SOLD - 1882 Seated Dime PR66+CAM PCGS w/CAC (PCGS Pop = 5)
Please read Point #5 below BEFORE looking at the EIGHT photos!
I have for sale an 1882 Liberty Seated Dime graded PR66+CAM by PCGS, and it has a CAC. I upgraded my Type Set with one graded PR67+CAM PCGS w/CAC.
- There are 38 coins in this date having been graded PR66CAM or PR66+ CAM by PCGS or NGC (26 by PCGS and 12 by NGC). Of those 38, only 6 of them merit a "+" (five by PCGS and 1 by NGC).
- CAC does not recognize "+" grades. Of the 38 coins graded PR66CAM or PR66+CAM, CAC gave their sticker to only 13 of those 38! At this price point, you'd figure almost all were submitted to CAC, since the cost is only $15.
- The PCGS Price Guide is $2,350 for PR66+CAM. This includes coins with CAC's and WITHOUT CAC's!
- My coin was originally bought by someone else in a Heritage Auction in January 2013 for $2,820. They sold it to a dealer in early 2018 for less than that, and I bought it from that dealer. Here is the Heritage description of this coin (photos are attached):
This Premium Gem Cameo proof will make a nice addition to a type set or complete collection. Both sides have highly lustrous devices with deeply mirrored fields and no evidence of toning
Here are other comments about this coin: Spectacular Cameo Proof, Watery Mirrors, Vibrant Cartwheel Luster, Light Gold Patina, Accurately Graded. High grade 1882 Cameo proof that is one of only five graded by PCGS as PR66+Cameo. I have seen two of the other specimens at this grade level and they are both heavily toned as compared to the bold eye appeal of this lightly toned example. Both sides feature watery mirrors and highly reflective lustrous cartwheels. A faint gold skin is seen at the peripheries. The strike is pinpoint-sharp and there are no obvious contact marks on either side. Eye appeal is superior. Last CoinFacts record for this coin dates back to January 2013 with HA priced realized of $2,820. Housed in 2013 transitional PCGS holder with blue label and edge view insert along with CAC approval.
Keep in mind as you do pricing research, you'll probably see what I saw - I mentioned I have seen two of the other four coins. While eye appeal is subjective, one of the coins had heavy yellow toning on both sides and was sold to a new buyer in an auction, and then just three months later, that buyer sold the coin in auction, apparently not happy with it. The other coin I saw was also bought by someone via auction, and apparently no one liked it, as it sold THREE times after that in the next 1-3/4 years!
- I am attaching several photos. The actual coin in hand truly looks much better than each of the photos!!!! Please note the PCGS True View is not so true view. For some reason it shows a ton of hairlines and cloudiness, which is not there. I can assure you that if those hairlines were on the coin, it would have graded closer to a PR64CAM, and not a PR66+CAM! The vertical line on Liberty's face in the large Heritage photo is NOT on the coin itself. If anything, possibly there's a luster break causing that to appear in that photo, but even with me looking through a 9x glass, I have difficulty seeing any distraction. The bottom two photos I just took with my old phone to try to capture the glassy/watery mirrors. Success on the reverse, not so much on the obverse, but those mirrors are just as watery/glassy. Those last two photos are MUCH more yellow that the actual coin in hand! The old SLAB itself DOES have cloudiness on both sides, as shown in the photos. However, the coin in hand is absolutely terrific and not disappointing.
- My selling price for the coin is $1,995. Must pay via regular PayPal (NOT PayPal Friends & Family). Will only sell to a person in the U.S. with a U.S. mailing address. A signature will be required upon delivery! Free FedEx Priority Overnight shipping (NOT guaranteed to be delivered on time by FedEx). If you have me ship it to a PO Box (after allowing me to confirm an actual mailing address), then it will ship USPS Priority Mail.
