Getting cards added to player registry set?

Hey there folks! I was wondering who to get in touch with about adding cards to a particular player set on the registry. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

However, before you get in touch with her, perhaps you may want to describe your situation with some of the board members here?

Quite a few of the Set Registries were constructed in a certain way, e.g., to capture all of the "major" issues of a certain player without capturing all of the rare/obscure issues that most do not collect or pursue.

For example, Mickey Mantle has hundreds of cards -- but his set registry primarily consists of the major issues from which people collect his cards. I put the Mike Schmidt Registry together myself -- trying to balance out all of his playing day issues without including the hundreds of regional/obscure issues that few but me and a few others might ever collect.

For some players, a new Registry has been created. For example, Nolan Ryan has a Topps card registry and a complete player run (which is still abbreviated).

At any rate, I think you might get some useful ideas if you bounce off your suggestions with some of the people here.

  • Thanks for the suggestion. I'm mainly looking at making sure the Johnny Bench set is complete for all his playing years. The main thing I noticed when I first saw the set was that several of the LL cards he appears on have been left out, while the '75 RBI Leaders is included. I would also like to see added the '75 MVP cards ('70 and '72), as well as the 'mini" versions for that year. Another one that comes to mind right off is the '74 AS Catchers card (Bench/Fisk).

Any suggestions as to how much info to provide BJ when I make the request? I'm planning on including the following info:

    Year
    Set
    Card #
    Card Description
    Pop. Report

    Anything else I should add?

    gtbreaker:

I think that League Leaders cards are an excellent suggestion and should be included in the Registry. I put together a small Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that had:

    year of issue
    Set description
    Card number
    Card Description
Card weight (not sure if the Bench set is weighted yet)
and Best Known (e.g., PSA 8, PSA 9 or PSA 10)

The Johnny Bench set is also missing his 1984 Topps and Topps Tiffany cards, and his 1984 Donruss card, but it has his 1984 Fleer cards. I think the Topps and Donruss cards should be added too.
