I got a request for a compact photo system that could shoot Coins and Comics, but even my System-400Q with the 18-55mm lens is limited due to the central column getting in the way. My solution was to use 2 columns and cross-bars, and it came out really nice! Take a look at the new system below. I think I will call it "System-500Q" since it is just an evolution from the 400Q, and will cost ~$100 more. Let me know what you think, and if you're interested in a system like this, or my 400Q or X2, give me a PM and we can figure out what's best for your application.

The guy I built this system for backed out of the deal, so this beauty is available. Includes Camera, Lenses, Copy Stand, and Lights for $600, normally $700 but I'll give someone a deal.

What is the range in diameter of the coins/medals that can be photographed? Have you used this setup to shoot coins while they are in slabs?

The 75mm lens can go from ~13mm coins up to ~42mm. Then the 18-55mm can be used for slabs, medals, proof sets, comics, etc up to ~200mm.
The two lights do very well for shooting coins in slabs, just need to make sure they are far enough out to not glare. I make an optional "masked diffuser" that helps get the lights as close as possible to the coin without glare.
