FYI Babe Ruth was not the only one out homering entire teams back in his day.
Enough has been said about the fact that Ruth out homered entire teams in his league...but when you consider that 95% of the hitters in the league were slap hitting ground ball machines, it shouldn't be that surprising that he did. It also should not be something that makes Ruth 'better' than later generations when there were simply more players capable of hitting home runs and impossible for anyone to out homer teams. 8th place hitters in the modern game would be out homering teams from then too.
However, what may surprise some is that in 1915 Gavvy Cravath out homered(or tied in HR) 12 of the 15 opposing teams in MLB.
Cravath out-homered entire teams in other seasons as well. There were also a few other players to out homer entire teams back then too. It was not a unique feat to Ruth.

In addition, Cravath only played seven full seasons in MLB, and he led the league in home runs in SIX of those seven seasons.
Sometimes numbers mean a little some time a lot.
Ralph Kiner led the league in Home Runs for 7 consecutive seasons and was just behind Ruth in HR per AB.
Never gets mentioned on the boards as an all time great.
Great announcer for the Mets back in the 70s.
The reason Ruth was so great was because of his love for fans, and especially kids.
So many athletes love to compete only, on the field, or golf course, or casino with their body guards.
Mantle would tell people to shove off if people approached him in a restaurant.
Babe loved people, kids, adults, reporters, and he made time for them.
He had the personality of Magic, the approachability of Barkley, and the pleasantness of Gretzky.
That’s why Babe is the greatest. MJ has his body guards. Babe let so many get a piece of him.
None greater.
