Scottie Pippen commented that the only player that struck fear in him was Shaquille O'Neal, so it got my mind thinking, who were some of the most feared athletes in the history of sports?

First one that comes to mind is the man pictured above, LT.

Another guy that comes to mind is Sonny Liston. He was just pure intimidation, his whole demeanor and attitude were frightening, and he often had his opponents beat before he even stepped in the ring with them. And he had these huge hands and fists which made him even more scary and those fists were used for some brutal knockouts, he was one of the hardest punchers in boxing history.
Jack Lambert was just straight up crazy, he was a lunatic that was definitely to be feared.
Joe Lewis
And the other Joe Louis, he had a cold stare and was very intimidating. He was heavyweight champion for over 11 years and also had one of the hardest punches in boxing history.
Jack Tatum was to be feared, he was one of the hardest hitters in NFL history and his nickname was the assassin. He had a nasty look about him and a cold demeanor and seemed to enjoy inflicting punishment.
Mike Tyson was pure intimidation, he had a cold emotionless stare and struck fear into his opponents. I'll never forget seeing the fear in Michael Spink's eyes when he fought Tyson.
Dick Butkus is not a man that you would want to see running at you full speed.
"Roses are red, violets are blue, if you got any sense, you'll keep Butkus away from you."
Speaking of Deacon Jones, he is one of the most feared players in NFL history. He would use a move called the "Headslap" where he would slap a blocker in the side of the head as hard as he could to get him out if the way so he could get to the quarterback. He had an intimidating attitude and look about him.
Big George Foreman
Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!
Ignore list -Basebal21
Definitely one of the most feared boxers in history, he was responsible for some terrifying knockouts in the 70s. He was huge and had a very cold demeanor about him and had sledgehammers for fists.

Hardy Brown. We discussed this lunatic before Double D!
In honor of @stevek
@perkdog, Great additions to the thread, you also saved me a bunch of work. 🖒🖒🍻
Your the best man for the job but figured I’d lend you a hand buddy 🍻
I definitely appreciate it, I couldn't have done it better myself, those guys are beasts and I had forgotten about Lyle Alzado, he was borderline psychotic!
DD has his own thread. 😁
Butkus took you up top. Wrapped up and no way to break the fall...or I should say, your turf impact. We had an ilb in college who was evaluated to be too psycho for the NFL. Ivan Weiss. Pure lunatic. In a nice, competitive way. 🙄 Was a prop for us in 75. I was second row behind him in the scrum. He'd always put some blood on himself before the match started just to give the opposing prop something to think about. 🤪
Bob Gibson in a non violent way.
This one will kill you!
Ray Lewis, even b4 I see the photo. Fine upstanding lad.
Edit: #32, another pillar of the community.
Not a footballer but I remember Darryl Dawkins was a beast in his time, "listed" at 6'10" - 251 lbs (sure looks bigger than 251)
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
James Harrison, emotionless cold stare and half crazy, he seemed to enjoy inflicting pain.

Aaron "the hawk" Pryor was intimidating, he would stare his opponents down and point his glove at them, and once he pointed that glove at you, it was all but over.
For baseball, Randy Johnson was intimidating, just look at his eyes, he's crazy.
Intimidation 101.
Randy White was intimidating, Terry Bradshaw once said that he always made sure he knew where Randy White was at all times on the field because he was that much of a beast.

I definitely wouldn't mess with Harrison!
Bob Gibson was intimidating, he had a cold stare and he threw the ball as hard as he could.
Yes, Singletary was very intimidating, he always had that crazy look in his eyes!
Ronnie Lott was another guy that was feared, he always had an intense look about him and you knew that he was going to deliver a bone crushing hit if he got the chance.
These Eagles fans are pretty intimidating.
And crazy, they threw ice at Jimmy Johnson one time!
And snowballs at Santa Claus too!
They're mean, throwing snowballs at Santa is just plain cruel!
I agree, killing a bird would pretty much intimidate the batter..........although I'm guessing the bird wasn't wearing a batting helmet
