Cockadoodledoo! France 20 Gold Franc Rooster

It's been a couple of moons since I acquired this piece. I have always been fond of the coins of my ancestors and this one is a beauty - NGC MS66.

This is a nice design. I have one myself and enjoy it.

This is a beautiful design and your piece appears to have booming luster. I like it quite a bit.

Thank you Stella and Tom. My Dino Lite microscope does not always capture a coin's luster, and this is a true gem in every sense of the word. Amazingly, I found this piece in a local brick and mortar store that generally does not have anything in stock that could be remotely described as a gem. Once in a while, needles do appear in the haystack.

One of my favorite bullion types! That one looks particularly lovely.

One interesting note is that the France Marianne-Rooster coin appeared on a French World War One poster.

The poster shows a French gold coin attacking a German soldier.
It was designed by Abel Faivre in 1915 and reads:
"Pour la France VERSEZ VOTRE OR" (For France, DONATE YOUR GOLD)
"L'Or Combat Pour La Victoire" (The Gold Fights for Victory)

A work of art becomes part of another work of art.

If I'm not mistaken, the rooster symbolizes the French Armed Forces, so it is interesting to see this symbol in action.
