Managed to win these in a recent auction. My collection is no better focused, but at least it’s improving in quality lately.

First up is an ancient:

From Thasos (Thrace) 463-511BC good silver Stater, obverse bearded Satyr carrying a protesting nymph, reverse incuse 4-part square. Sear 1746. The edge split isn’t too distracting and the centering is solid. (Not a depiction likely to be struck these days.)

The second is a pretty little Spanish minor:

Spain 1833-S-JB, Seville mint, 2 Reales, obverse Ferdinand VII, reverse arms. KM 460.3. Hard to capture the clean surfaces, gentle toning and luster of this coin in my pictures, but this one is very pretty indeed in hand.

These may benefit from TPG submission? Hope folks don’t pick up on concerns I may have missed, I’m still learning (as are we all).

(Edited to fix a typo.)
