Post your Crossovers. Successful or not?
Hi guys,
I'm pretty sure this thread was posted before? Concerning crossovers.
However, I for one, have two crossovers in my collection. Both received in my favor. My first one, I told this story before. Unbelievable to comprehend. I got it by accident too. Lol. I submitted my NGC MS 64 1945p Walker hoping to get the coin crossed with the "missing initials" variety. Well, PCGS did not think it was clear enough of the designer's initials to receive the variety. But, big but, instead they thought that NGC 's 64 grade was too low. So they gave the coin a MS 65! WOW. I was very surprised in two ways. First the fact they shot me down with the variety then by the upgrade. Here is the crossover. Show us yours guys. Thanks

I rarely ever do a crossover anymore, no need to as the NGC registry allows both brands, and as I have matured as a collector I have come to realize that I would rather buy another coin than enrich the TPG. However many years ago before I knew what I know now I did attempt some crossovers from some third world slabs. I have two favorites, one that crossed at grade and one that went one grade less. 1910 was PCI MS65RD, the 1938-D was NNC MS68RD.

My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Sent this beautifully toned and completely prooflike NGC AU58* in and crossed it to PCGS 55 and then upgraded it twice….to 58 and then again to 58+
Definitely one of my favorites!
You got pretty lucky on the NNC cross. The company should be at least two grades overgraded. Good for you.

In my experience, they only straight cross with a sticker.
Then you have to send it back to NJ & back to CA a 2nd time for a +
I'm about exhausted playing the game so I haven't submitted any this year.

This one started life as a NGC MS66 CAC and crisscrossed the country 4 times.
After I got the +, I didn't send it back to NJ because the sticker had "done its job" and didn't need to be there anymore.

From NGC AU55:

To PCGS AU53 and then a sticker.

Well done! That Holder (PCGS) and the CAC sticker makes a world of difference. Even with the two points under. Very cool.![B) B)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/sunglasses.png)

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I had a variety several years ago that I cherrypicked in a SEGS 64FB holder. I graded at PCGS as 65FB. I don't own the coin but I still believe it should grade higher. I've had my fair share of coins in NGC holders drop a grade.
I have a lot of coins to submit to PCGS at Summer FUN on Thursday. In order to eliminate two extra submission forms, I cracked out 4 coins to make them raw. One of the coins was in an old tiny ANACS MS63 holder. I'm especially interested to see what this grades since I have seen worse in MS67 holders. Granted, nothing surprises me these days. It also has a shot at FB. One of the cracked coins was NGC 66FB, I hope it doesn't drop but I could see it turning into a 65, no FB holder which will be painful.
Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
That is a beautiful coin!
Yes, I would worry too about the NGC 66fb. Hopefully, the PCGS grader will see what the NGC grader saw. Esp the FB! Don't want to jinx ya, but a PCGS 65 FB, isn't too hard to take than the worst case scenario losing the FB as well. Good Luck my friend. 👍

If you want to risk spending the attribution. I would try to submit yours! It might be worth it?
Nice premium if you hit it!

Good Luck, if you do.

OMG ... My Mother was Right about Everything!
I wake up with a Good Attitude Every Day. Then … Idiots Happen!
Water under the bridge big time, but I was just thinking about this one last night in regards to cacg legacy...
I got a sticker on this one when it was N58. In hindsight, I foolishly crossed it. P55... next owner tried again, P55, but got the sticker back.
If only we knew that in time we could have simply sent it to cacg and it would still be in a 58 holder 😵💫
Cest la vie... lots of wins and losses for me in the crossover/sticker game over the years.
As time goes by, I am more and more drawn to circulated coins, less and less attracted to high grades, so there really is no need to cross anymore 🤗
My VF die marriage of the above coin is my keeper!
(In its yellow anacs holder to boot..)
Congrats.

All 3 were an improvement!
On the 1883 V Nickel.
You lost the CAC, but received the "CAM". Plus, in the better holder!
Great payoff.

Here's mine. A failure. Before anyone says anything, I know the fees weren't worth it for this coin but I had a reason for it.

1800 BB-185 XF45 Jules Reiver (ex - NGC XF45)
Rarest variety of the date and one of the rarest Bust dollars.
I only have 8 known to me (including another I found with no provenance) and only exceeded by the Bolender specimen (NGC 58) and the Miller specimen (PCGS 53+)
From the "used to mine" folder.
I attributed this 1899-O 10C RPM FS-501 which was in a NGC MS62 holder and crossed it at "ANY" grade with our host...they did not think as highly of it PCGS MS60.
...and this variety has been removed from PCGS and is identified as a regular 1899-O, with a drop in value of $300.

Can see why you crossed over.. looks WAY better in the pcgs holder 🤑
One of my favorites. I crossed it from NGC so that I could use it in my registry set.
