Got bored this weekend, ripped a box of 1985 topps baseball rackpack.
Got 3 McGwires, 1 Don Mattingly, 2 Kirby Pucketts, 1 Dwight Gooden, 3 Pete rose, and a few others.. Was really only after the McGwires..
The centering on the 3 McGwires dont look too good.. Will any of the McGwires grade PSA 9 assuming edges , surface and corners are good.

If everything else is perfect I think the top-right McGwire has a chance at a 9. But the killer on '85s is the printing. The entire production run of cards just has a steamy turd of a print job. It's so, so had to find even a decent print job on an '85 card, and then if you, have it meet 10 merits everywhere else.
The McGwire is just straight impossible to find a decent print job on. I would take a PSA 7 with a perfect print job over a typical PSA 9. But that's just me. I like my print jobs.

I do not think you will get any 9's on the Mcgwires. Left to rt centering on 1&3, and tilt on 2. Plus, PSA is doesn't seem to be giving any 9's or 10's on the big 3 in 85. 7 and 8's seem to be the norm. You might get a 9 on a Puckett, but good luck.Mattingly looks good.
If any the upper right could squeak a 9. I think the tilt is from your photo angle but you would need to look closer in person. Left top will not. Bottom should not but I have seen crazier things lately.
Did you set any star showing racks aside or did they all get ripped?

I pulled a Big Mac USA from one single 85 Rak Pak in 2016 (it was showing on back) and it got a PSA 10. totally unexpected it. it had a slight tilt. hard to tell from your pics honestly, but I agree so long as the corners and edges aren't chipped up and there are no printing defects, the top right one could get a 9.

That card probably wouldn't even get a PSA 9 today , let alone a 10. You should get it reholdered so it looks like a tough graded 10!
I don't think I've ever seen an 85 McGwire that wasn't tilted.
this was the third card I ever subbed to PSA (when 10 day turn around was still a thing) and honestly it was indeed perfect for the most part. the tilt, albeit common for these, wasn't that bad. there was no edge chipping on the front (which these were also known for). at the time, this one was the 272nd PSA 10. I ended up trading It away years ago and to this day I still miss it. replaced it with a VERY high quality PSA 9 I may consider sending in for a review some day.
I see it sold by PWCC back in 2020 and is registered to someone. if its anyone here, id be willing to try to buy it back!

I'm somehow amused that your list only features one HoFer.
My favorite aspect about collecting '80s and those who collect '80s -- so much of the demand is attributed to how well those players were held in regard at that time compared to the usual "Only HOFers are valuable" market. If someone didn't collect in the '80s I don't think the market would make any sense to them at all. It's just pure nostalgia.

LOL.... well now that I got a closer look and thx for the feedback. I think these will be left ungraded.
The top right card does have a bad tilt, and I just noticed the right edge isn't good either
another thing I noticed with 85 Topps is the surface. some of the cards ive pulled had horrible bumps/waviness in the card stock.
