WTB '34 Batter-Up #18

Since so few Batter-Up cards find their way to ebay, I thought I'd post a WTB here on the off chance somebody can help with an odd quest. Naturally, most collectors of this set are content to acquire one example of each numbered card rather than a copy of each card in each of the tint variants. But, I have set out on this chase on one card and chose card #18 (Jack Burns) because I was able to quickly acquire the card in 3 colors (green, purple, and brown) and I have a blue version to get slabbed when the opportunity presents. This leaves me in search of the red and black variants. This is a low budget quest, so I am targeting lower grades (2-4). Any leads would be helpful and appreciated.

  • I know you said 2 to 4 range, but I would be willing to trade my PSA 5 Burns in red if you were to come across the Burns in 5 in any other color. Pics available under Zodiac's Batter Up set on the registry.

Yes, although the lower series, 1 through 80, have more than the rest of the set.

Are the color variations recognized by PSA now??
I checked the pop report and it doesn't mention variations

No, PSA does not make a distinction for colors. I've never noticed a premium paid for any particular color. Putting the set together is tough enough. Trying to do it uniform might take forever.

I collect Yankees and have 2 color versions of Ben Chapman.
Now I will be looking for other color variations.

  • If you're referring to card #62 then there should be a total of 6 color variations, green, red, blue, purple, black, and brown.

    I appreciate this info.

When I saw the 2nd card I bought it was red(pink) and i thought maybe a print defect.

Now that I know I will be looking for additional variations
