Missing PSA Card
I had a PSA-graded card disappear (I'm assuming it's stolen) from my mailbox. The description and certificate number are below:
Gem Mint 10 - 2018 Topps Chrome 150 Shohei Ohtani Pitching-Blue Refractor - Cert # 50792462
If any of you are a dealer or high-value collector please keep an eye out for it if it comes up for sale. It was delivered to Middletown, CT and I've let all the local dealers know that it's stolen and to contact me. I'm also checking eBay and other sports card auction sites to see if they try to sell it. I have all the proof of ownership documents and invoices if it's located. I'm absolutely gutted that it's gone, and the USPS has already tried to locate it, to no avail.
If you happen to come across it please let me know. You can also email me at jkolosky@live.com
I appreciate any help you can provide.

Wasn't it signature required?
have you registered it on the registry?
Doesn't matter any more. The mailman is supposed to sign that he saw you and then the mailman signs for you. My mailman throws it in the mailbox without checking with me. I haven't signed for anything for more than a year.
I would go to a few of the local card shows as well. I know there is one at the VFW in Plainville on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
Is the card serial #'d for short print run by the manufacturer? If so, that is a valuable asset to prevent it from otherwise being cracked and re-subbed in order to hide it under another PSA cert number.
you can notify PSA and they can flag the cert I believe.

Did you check with your neighbors? Mail carriers are known to accidentally deliver packages to the wrong house. Usually it's an important tax document or expensive item like yours.
What I don't understand are the USPS policies right now. Are there "OFFICIALLY" no policies in place at this time ?? If I send something SIG CON or Registered....etc can the mailman just throw it on your lawn and call it a day ? I understand COVID; but do not understand that no procedures are being followed by the USPS. I'm just confused by these scenerios and they seem to be happening a lot lately.
Sorry
Whatever auction go and get the image and save it.
Get the card on your registry as nobody can then add it without a removal request to you. That would let you know what is going on and can alert PSA
Others are right Postman can't just deliver it without seeing you first. If not you have a case.
Also check craigslist and facebook sites.

Nightmare scenario. Just leave a slip and let me pick it up!! How are we supposed to deliver high value items, just hope they get there? I’m at a loss.

My last 2 PSA subs were just dropped in my mailbox. Both should have been signature required and had over $2000 worth in each box. I was freaking when it showed "delivered". I assumed it was dropped at my door and my son signed for it...NOT! What recourse would there be if the packages were taken?????
The last large package I sent to PSA still does not show delivered. It was sent in late February, via Registered Mail, and insured for $40,000. I've gotten all of the enclosed subs back graded already, yet the package still "in transit" to the Newport Beach post office. If they don't care about that, I doubt they care about a single card. It's CRAZY.
So sad, I feel your pain/anxiety. Last year I purchased a 1970 Nolan Ryan (PSA 8) off Ebay. Tracking showed delivered. When I got home from work I immediately went to my mail box and EMPTY?! My mailbox is grouped with a handful of my neighbors mailboxes and on occasion the mailman dumps my neighbors mail in our box and vice versa. I checked all the other mail boxes and no card. At that point my only option was to go door to door which I did. The last house I went to I spoke to a 11 or 12 year old girl and told her what I was looking for. She walked away and came back with my 70 Ryan. Either removed from my mailbox or mailman put in her families mailbox. I will never know. I was elated to get it in my hands and at the same time annoyed she had it, opened the bubble mailer and had the card in her room. Had I not gone door to door I am confident I would have never seen it. I sure hope it surfaces for you.
Has the USPS checked to see where the registered package is? Registered mail is often slow but should be extremely secure. I hope the package was not lost.

Does the tracking show as delivered with PSA? Packages almost never get scanned at Boca Raton. I've had the cards graded at SGC and delivered back to me, and still not scanned at Boca Raton.
No, it still shows "in transit". However, it was delivered in early March and as I said, all cards have already been graded and returned to me. But the fact that there is a package insured for $40k just floating around in their system should be cause for concern. What is to stop a nefarious person from claiming "package not delivered" with the post office and getting the insurance money (if they couldn't PROVE that anyone signed for it)?
i have a feeling its not! 😉
Just FYI you can request the USPS requires a real signature by the person a item is being shipped to, during Covid they allowed the mailman to sign it himself but even then you had the option to require a real signature. They wasn't sharing this because everyone was worried about Covid. Also this would be something PSA would have to require when they ship a package out you cant do it from the receiver side. I am only sharing this really in case you mail out a high dollar card and want to be as protected as much as possible.
I'm sure did, but there are several on ebay atm
I have to much S**t; so if you working on sets or are a player/team collector, send me your want list, with conditions desired. Keep in mind I have a another job so please allow me a few days to respond.
I misread your post. Not getting a final scan upon delivery is not terribly uncommon. That issue is a very minor one, though, and is nothing like the issue the OP is experiencing.

Last month I ordered a new iPhone for my kid (he saved up his dollars and had me sell things on ebay for him) . FedEx showed it was delivered and signed for by me (eventhough I was not home) . My ring doorbell didn't show any delivery either. My son filed a claim with FedEx. Turns out that FedEx delivered to wrong address, signed my name. The guy brought it to me at night so all is good. A few weeks later FedEx denied the claim and said they delivered it properly.
