6-carboxytetrahydropterin synthase (EC 4.1. 2.50, CPH4 synthase, queD (gene), ToyB , ykvK (gene)) is an enzyme with systematic name 7,8-dihydroneopterin 3'-triphosphate acetaldehyde-lyase (6-carboxy-5,6,7,8-tetrahydropterin and triphosphate-forming). This enzyme catalyses the following reversible chemical reaction?? ......No.

I actually think it’s main ingredient is Carboshield BTX because the guy who formulated it said it’s being used by the mint as an anti corrosive agent that bonds to metal as an invisible protective layer and I found this research article online
And these sentences from the product information sheet is what makes me think the main ingredient they call ReAcT2 is actually Carboshield BTX
“ When used as directed it will remove many types of surface debris, condition the surfaces and protect from corrosion with the same chemical system used by the U.S. Mint on modern coinage. Dry looking coins will come to life as the surface conditioner acts on the patina creating a more vibrant looking coin. Corroded coins will be protected from future environmental risks as ReAcT2TM bonds with the metal surface and any corrosion rendering it neutralized”
People were using it mainly to neutralize green corrosion off of copper coins until it became increasingly unavailable. I saw a half used bottle on eBay a couple of months ago that ended up going for over $100. That’s why I researched it to find out what the ingredient actually is that makes it work and found it is probably Carboshield BTX. The mint had been experimenting with it for a while, but it looks like they started using it heavily around the same time the product started becoming unavailable.
All chemistry labs have acetone in plastic bottles.
Acetone will dissolve some types of plastic including the type used to make slab shells. I can't tell what type of plastic that small bottle is made of.

Mystery liquid?
It looks like some thing you’d see on Forensic Files. I don’t like mystery fluids.

Looks like your Verdi-care is Verdi-gone 😉

Well, I guess it is. The ingredients is a mystery to all of us, except one!
No.
Almost.
Wtf

Is it some kind of acid to authenticate silver? It will turn a certain color if the coin is authentic, but will destroy any collector value.
CPH4?

THROW THAT SPRAY AWAY!!!!!
And I’m thinking this is why the product started to become so hard to get about 5-6 years ago

Maybe someone can call Lonza and ask them if the chemical is available or if it now is exclusively sold only to the mint.
Mr_Spud
Yeah I got some left.

I still have about 1 3/4 oz left in the 2oz bottle. I only use it on coppers
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Label it.
So is this it? When would one use it?

Yes, believe it is. This is an example of what it does....
Do you have any before and after pics?
Sorry no I do not.
Okay, thanks.
Anyone else?

PTFE and Nylon plastic bottles work fine with acetone.

Will Verdi-care remove spots from proof ase’s?
I wondered how some proof coins I sent to pcgs for conservation came back looking glossier, I wonder if they use the same stuff the mint does.
Also, do you think the $50,000 reward David hall had out for spotting issues resulted in the mint using this type of stuff on their coins??
I wouldn't use anything on proof's.
