1986 Fleer Michael Jordan RC PSA 10 - $180,100

One just sold for $180,100 on ebay yesterday. How far of a correction will we see for 2021? I have no idea, but I get the sense the correction will continue.

Id guess the seller wanted 300K+ Wonder if others will sell who bought in at the 15-30k range 2 years ago.
Will always be a great card to own but the price range is hard to stomach.

Lots of cards have been in freefall since March. My $125k PSA 10 Jordan RC sale back in October no longer looks so bad!

I do think we are in a buying opportunity but prices will probably continue to fall. Five years from now, current prices for these superstar HOFers will look like bargains I imagine.

I agree that these prices will certain be a bargain. Perhaps prices fall more but for for those purchased at 30K two years ago and now, even at 180K, there is simply nothing to complain about. I am attending the National so personally, I hope prices continue to drop because these high prices were actually turning me off when it came to collecting. I actually considered stopping all together for a moment. Glad I didn't buy anything during the earlier part of this year. That would have sucked.

Goldin auction Jordan PSA-10 already going above this price.
Perhaps an Ebay bargain snag, but would love to see this card stay under $200K.

There's a discussion on blowout and a few folks mentioned going down to pre 2020 prices. This was a 38K card in December 2019. That price point will never be seen again IMHO.

I agree, even if they continue to fall they will never fall to pre 2020 levels.

I don’t know the full story behind all of this but supposedly legit bidders weren’t able to bid on that PSA 10 Jordan Fleer that sold for $180. This first one is from PWCC explaining what happened and the second an account on IG: cardporn who was one of the bidders that wasn’t able to bid. I posted his thoughts on all of it.

did they get approved thru ebay AND pwcc to bid over 6 figs? i remember losing out on a baltimore ruth attempting to snipe at the end. bid wasnt accepted. not really their fault, imo.

i learned my lesson. still stings today. not trying to defend pwcc by any means, but there is a protocol to follow to ensure people who have no intentions of paying from disrupting these type auctions.

eta: and i was able to bid on the ruth initially & during the last few minutes to jockey for position all the way up to like $88k.

I can’t answer that, I just saw this info mentioned over on BO and knew we had a thread about that specific card here.

Thanks for sharing the ebay bid situation. I was not aware of it. Invalid sale so the seller gets another crack at the sale.

Simply amazing that this one card, that has been in freefall, had issues and had to be canceled. Not sitewide issues, no other PWCC issues, just this one card that is seen as bellwether for the hobby and came in much lower then expected.

    Nothing to see here.

I was denied a last minute bid through Gixen snipe service,
on a pre-approved autction. I was approved before the auction ended. ?glitch
I think PWCC is leaving money on the table with their pre-approval bidding process.

or making more money by getting items for extremely low prices. then selling it later? 😉

Learn new things everyday on here - good to know if I ever win the lottery I need to bid early on my auctions over $100K in case there are verification problems!

Feel bad for the person who won the auction. If there truly was a glitch - there is no good solution, either the buyer gets hosed and misses out on a good purchase or the seller gets hosed and missed out on higher bids. If there are issues - I do think re-listing is the fairest thing to do.

You can pretty much guarantee prices go back to 2019 as people put their money in more traditional investments. Also no stimulus and people have to pay their bills once again.

Football is going to BLOW UP this fall assuming COVID Variant doesn’t shut it all down.

I don’t buy football but with five quarterbacks drafted in the top 15 picks you gotta think that this year’s product is probably going to sell very well compared to some other sports.

Again, I dont mean to be the bearer of bad news - but people werent spending on things like game tix, vacations, travel to work. Heck a lot of people werent even paying their bills. This is definitely a great QB crop. I just dont see the same price levels this fall. Baring a covid repeat.

Recent results from Goldin, 233K and 270K. Just couple data points here, but I am surprised at the 270K sale. Higher than I expected.
