Scans of the last of my 80s subs

As specials like this are likely to be things of the past, I wanted to share my scans and closing thoughts on grading 80s cards. I did 4 of these 80s specials with 2 I was happy with and 2 I viewed as disappointments. Looking through these it just reinforces the fine line between 9s and 10s and in some cases 8s and 9s. I have never had any luck subbing 86-89 Fleer baseball and I believe 84-88 Fleer is greatly under appreciated.

Here are the scans. Some will be available, some are keepers but overall I was pleased with the results

Hard to believe that the 1980 Topps Eddie Murray got a 9 with that tilt.
Nice eye on your submission overall!

84 fleer is maybe my favorite card design, Largely it was my 1st year collecting and fleer was nowhere to be found by me on the southside of Chicago. I bought cards at the drug store when I would go with my mom. 83 topps was my actual 1st purchases but the 84 fleer still gives me the feels when I see em.

Sadly that type of fun is now gone. After speculators and the "Instagram crowd" have moved away from the hobby it's us true collectors that are the permanent victims of the after-effects. No Joy In Mudville, PSA has struck us out....

Unless otherwise specified my posts represent only my opinion, not fact.

that is a given, but it is not as bad as it appears at first glance.

Love that 86 Galarraga! What is that card's value these days? I've alway liked those "rated rookie" cards. You've got some real beauties there.

Like $60-75 I think. I have not checked from the same factory sets I hit in various subs
    2 Canseco 10s
    2 McGriff 10s
    2 Mattingly 10s
    1 Galarraga 10
    1 Dykstra 10

My kind of sub - I love all of this! Great work. And really, the distribution of 10s here seems in line with my personal 80s subs submission history. This gives me hope.

What's not to love about the 84F Brett? Looks gemmy to me. Bottom left corner?

What happened to that 84D Fernandez?

Love the cards! 89f Johnson is sweet!
