It's a shame we couldn't gather up some members here to spot you at the WSOP.

I wasn't kidding about any of that. I was ready with my $500 to contribute, and still am if there could be some momentum developed on this.

And if ya don't win, then ya don't win. But i think the thread on it, the story line, the pics, etc, would have been a heckuva lot of fun. Well worth the risk just for the entertainment value of that alone.

I'm a bit surprised that with the proliferation of legalized sports betting, that legalized poker didn't ride along with it?

It would be a fun storyline but truthfully there is no way I’d take peoples money to go on a gambling adventure even if it was a real thing. Sorta like ya never win on “Borrowed” money type of thing.

I’m from Massachusetts but live in New Hampshire now, in Mass you can’t do online poker or sports betting ( Shocker ) but oddly in New Hampshire you can online sports bet but no online poker. It’s absolutely dumbfounding to me that States wouldn’t want the revenue

I'll put it bluntly, these offshore online poker websites, mainly headquartered in the Caribbean or Latin America. i wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.

Way too many stories out there about bots, super-users, collusion, and perhaps worst of all with no US legal jurisdiction if you do happen to win, they can refuse to pay you for any reason they happen to conjure up.

Versus that nonsense which in my opinion is tantamount to theft, i'd rather have it legalized here where at least it would be scrutinized by US law and regulations.

Well that’s exactly what I’d be hoping for is an across the board legalized United States based website. Unlikely to happen anytime soon but again it’s mind boggling that Federal or State governments would legalize it yet allow major dollars to go to some hut in Belize or something like that. I honestly wouldn’t trust them anyways

Paul, in my view it wasn't borrowed money, it was a business proposition.

I actually got the idea from one of those poker shows, it's on Youtube. They had on there a "loose cannon" as they called it. The loose cannon was an amateur, playing against five other known pros at the table. i think the amateur was spotted 100k and could keep any money that was won after the session ended amounting to over 100k. The pros put in their own 100k.

Well of course the pros were salivating with this fish at the table, as they usually run over these loose cannons who were too easily bluffed or too often overplayed their hands. However this particular loose cannon happened to be in law enforcement. Turned out that he actually wasn't a loose cannon at all in the definition of the term. He stayed cool, calm, and collective throughout the session, played solid poker, and wound up winning a lot of money.

The Feds have already allowed it to happen as i think you know. It's up to the states to decide whether to legalize it in their particular state or not. Then it's up to particular gambling businesses whether it's worth it or not?

I agree that the Feds will never enact a law about this to supersede state laws. It will remain a state by state issue.

A former American decathlon gold medal winner is in the building. The speculation is rife. Things becoming tense. Very tense. Announcement expected some time this afternoon...... according to my inside source.......a very respected inside source.

You could have sent me a pm to let me know that my special exemption was granted to play in the US Open. Now its too late to book a flight to San Diego and I have nothing good to wear. The widespread disappointment is simply immeasurable nor can it be adequately captured on the many sad faces in the gallery. Some how... the Open will go on.

Pitchers are using sticky stuff on baseballs (really) and the Dodgers won the WS using it and will forfeit the WS trophy just like the Astros did.

    I know what it is.

MLB is going to announce that they are renaming the league MVP trophy.

The new name will be the "George Brett, greatest 3rd baseman in the history of baseball memorial MVP award."

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
