have you considered using excel for its ability to post links side by side pretty easily as well as sorting function and/or other methods/strats i'm not thinking of just now or don't know at all? you can click directly from it to go to a thread/page.
I use the free version of Libre Office (has all functionality and is same as MS Excel) to manage inventory of my collection (purchase info as well as classifying them into their particular sets on different sheets).
For example the purchase sheet would have the following fields as column headers and the rows populated with the data.
ORDER DATE
ITEM DESCRIPTION
ORDER NUMBER
ORDER TOTAL
SELLER
NUMBER OF ITEMS
ITEM TYPE
SUB TYPE (basically more details)
YEAR
MINT
Certified by
GRADE
DATE RECD.
ITEM PRICE
TAX
S & H
TOTAL
NOTES
Certificate #
GUIDE VALUE
With a Net total (without taxes and S&H) and a grand total of actual costs (including every penny involved like buyers premium etc.) at the bottom.
The item description and seller would be the actual URL that would be copy pasted on from the browser and those can be opened with a single click. Aside of characteristics like bent coin, VAM etc., the NOTES column would have the direct PCGS link with trueview pictures. I have been slacking for the past two years and did not add my own personal pictures of each coin and hope to get it done as soon as I can find the free time to do it.
But for the non-business URL's and others, I prefer the notepad in text format because it can also be opened in Wordpad, MS Word or any such programs if need be and the links can be clicked on without having to copy and paste it back to the browser
Have different text files for the various denominations meaning, for example - Lincoln cents, IHP with all pertaining links to it, Quarters - Washington, SLQ, Barber, Seated Liberty etc. so that there is no clutter and don't have to search too long. These text files also belong in their own respective directories along with pictures under the main Coin directory - makes searching for something in particular much easier
