This high school quarterback looks like Patrick Mahomes and the NFL has taken notice

High school quarterback prospect Quinn Ewers' sidearm throw looks similar to that of Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs.

For football fans wondering who the top quarterback recruit in the 2022 class, that is none other than Quinn Ewers of Southlake Carroll. Ewers is ranked as a five-star prospect and ranks as the best recruit not just at quarterback, but tops in the entire nation by 247Sports. If you watch video, you can see why he is ranked so highly.

In fact, Ewers garnered the attention of the NFL's official Twitter account, who tweeted out a video of the quarterback making a sidearm throw alongside Kansas City Chiefs signal caller Patrick Mahomes making a similar delivery during a game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Getting a player comparison to Mahomes, a one-time Super Bowl champion and the 2018 NFL MVP, has got to feel awesome for Ewers. In fact, Ewers retreated the NFL's video with two "100-percent" emojis.

Ewers is set to begin his collegiate career at Ohio State, where he committed to them this past November. He had previously committed to Texas last August before announcing his decision to de-commit in October.

Back in the 2019-20 season as a sophomore at Southlake Carroll, Ewers threw for 4,003 yards, 45 touchdowns and three interceptions on a 72.4 completion percentage through 14 games, per MaxPreps. Additionally, Ewers rushed for 568 yards and nine touchdowns on 83 carries. This past season, Ewers completed 66.0-percent of his passes for 2,442 yards, 28 touchdowns and five interceptions through eight games.

Ewers has already received the comparison to Mahomes from Alabama quarterback Bryce Young this week, and has now gotten it from the NFL. Not a bad stretch of days for one Quinn Ewers.

@doubledragon Does he always throw like that? Or just when necessary or advantageous?

Mahomes definitely has the about to throw from different angles. I believe after HS,through college and to the pros, however, Mahomes cleaned up and refines his technique to get to where he is now.

I'm not sure, I think he probably throws normal, but is capable of slinging it sidearm if he has to. One thing I do know for sure, he grows a great mullet!

Interesting, I just checked the Quinn Ewers cards on ebay, and he has a few starting to pop up. When I clicked on a card to view it, a little red thingy came across the screen that said, "One sold in the last hour!"

I just read some different analysis about him, and they were saying the same things I was thinking about his throwing motion. Maybe we will see changes in it in the future.
