Poll: Which car should I buy?

Thinking about buying a car in like 6 or so months
Maybe an Eclipse, 3000 GT, Trans-Am, RX-7, or somethin... maybe find a ferrari, lamborghini, NSX, etc Replica... that cost like 15, 000 or somethin?

going to spend no more than 15,000 on just the car
just wonderin what u all think

BTW... I make $10 an hour and I will turn 16 in September

I have an idea, why don't you spend 3 or 4 k on a car and save the rest?
  • bb141516bb141516 Posts: 811 ✭✭✭

Im glad you made this post! I would go for the 3000GT, im currently looking at a bada*s Red 1997 3000GT for $15,500.
me and my mom test drove one yesterday and liked it. my sister thinks the car would be way to much for me to handle though.

Anyone else have opinions on the 3000GT?

Slipknot, i know what you mean. My sister works at allstate insurance so I hear it all the time, but if thats what you really want then why settle for something less if you have the money?

  • Supras are street legal. If I were you I'd get an economical car. You are young. A Supra for someone your age will be around $2500-$3000 a year in insurance. If you've got money to waste then do it. If not get a Honda Accord Coupe.

If you're thinking about getting the first generation Mitzu I wouldn't do it. Those things are very unreliable. The 2nd and newest generation are better cars.

  • Whatever you do BUY a foreign car. American cars are always breaking down. Chevy's and related products are ok, but dont be buying ford, lincoln, mercury, plymouth, and dodge (except for trucks). I would reccomend any mitsubishi or toyota. Try to find an 80's supra. those cars are really good and got some power (inline 6). Or buy a Mitsubishi Eclipse. Those are also quality cars. I know many people that reccomended that car, so I decided to pick up a 91 with low miles for only $3K and have not had one problem with it in 2 years. (besides usual maintence like oil, tires, spark plugs, etc.) (and i drive it all the time, have put on alot of miles). Here is just one personal experience with plymouth (have heard tons of horror stories about them) my aunt bought a brand new 96 breeze (in 1996) and here is what she had to replace: alternator, starter, key ignition, and she has now just developed a problem with the guages: NONE OF THEM work. Anyway that is just one story. Oh and one last thing, whatever you do NEVER buy a 1980's 300ZX. They look cool, and they are great cars, but the frames rust badly. Heck I checked out a few two years ago when i went down to florida on vacation and they all were rusted. It wasnt just the ones here in WI. Doesnt really matter if they were driven in snow salt or not. So be very careful with those if you even do consider it.

  • Heck....if you want a fast car and want to lose your license quickly....get a 89-93 MUSTANG 5.0 GT or LX. Fast as all hell stock and absolutly sick with add ons. I guess that was my generation of "cool rides" though....now the Fast And The Furious rides are in. I voted for the Eclipse but i would agree with just gettin a decent "non-sports car" ride due to insurance. You'll have plenty of time and reflexes left later when you get outta college...and insurance will be manageable. Let us know what ya get!!

  • Get a good relaible toyota corrola, mazda protege, nissan sentra, hodan civic, etc. Good MPG and insurance is cheap. Save your money and when you learn how to drive then get a real car like a BMW 3 series or even better a M3 like mine. To much power right now without the experience could spell disaster and i dont think your parents need the pain.

  • I have been a manager in the car bus. for 15 yrs. Zimmy is the most accurate in his comments. I sell domestic. GM cars . Some foriegn cars are great(Toyota and Honda ). The rest are all sh*t. Stay away from mitsubishi and nissan . Korean cars are the worst hyundia , kia , daewoo. german are good , but are very expensive to repair. Stick with a good gm car. Grand am , monte carlo , or even cavalier Z-24. cheap to insure and maintain. If you have any questions with values pm me for help. High miles equal high repair costs.
  • screw all that mess and get a motorcycleimageimageimage
