Guess the grade - new grading standard or tools ? Or are these consistent with past standards ?

Ok all. I got my 76’s back from PSA today. If you don’t follow the grade poppage thread I’m interested in your thoughts and even if you do but don’t recall me discussing any of the grades when they popped I’d love for my fellow collectors to guess the grades these cards got. It would be most helpful if you gave a short explanation of why you are guessing a certain grade.

Jeff: I had a thread a decade ago where I had busted a 76 vending box, and felt all of the grades were about a whole point lower than I was used to for similar 76's. Seeing yours now reminds me of that. While pleasant grading surprises are nice, unpleasant "wipeout" subs are so much worse.

Are the white dots on the card or the scanner?
Morgan has white dots on his neck.
    Johnson near hand(alot)
Andy in the red on both edges around name. and white dots by his ear going down
Ellie all over neck area and bubble on the back of card.

If on card then Id grade the following.
Morgan 9 PD has black dots on left boarder and also in the jersey. 7 If the white dots are on the card and his face.
Johnson 7 belt level on left edge almost looks like a bend and there are a lot of white print dots by his hand. Centering and left corners are not perfect.
Harper 9. Top LR centering makes me feel like it is tilted but very nice.
Andy 8 bottom left corner and print in the red. Big bubble on the back in the center.
Carter 8.5 centering dent maybe to the right of the trophy on the boarder
Ellie 7 if white is on the card.
Toby 8 top corner and LR centering.

Morgan 8 ~ PD ON JERSEY prob worse in scan than in hand
Walter 7 ~ oc and white print dots left side upper middle
    Harper~ 9 -10 looks pretty perfect
Toby harrah ~ 8 ( centering on front)
messersmith ~ 7 chipping on right and left and pd/ snow in red, dot on back
Gary Carter ~ 8 centering l/r and side chipping
    hendricks ~ 9, little snow ( but might be wipe-offable ?)

The Morgan has great centering but that bottom right corner on the back scan doesn’t look great. Also print spots on the front star area. I’d say 8 max.

So I wanted to see if others could pick out and see defects that I may have missed. You honestly did pretty well I picking the grades. I couldn’t find anything that I thought would keep the Morgan from a 9’or 10. I felt it was comparable to the Hendricks or Harper. I think we always view our cards a little better than others so this is a nice way to keep me grounded. Here are what the cards graded.

Morgan 8 I think it’s visually much nicer then the carter but same grade.
    Carter 8
    Johnson 7
Messersmith 4 - no wrinkles. Not even spider wrinkles. So the ink spot on back drops it to a 4 ???
    Harrah 9
    Hendricks 10
    Harper 10

@76collector on the messersmith is there a little crease seen on the reverse lower left corner?? if not that it has to be maybe printed on bad paper?? I see it a lot on 78's where it has little wrinkle looking type issues. you can see em when holding it up to light

on the morgan it might be the two bottom reverse corners if it isnt the reverse snow on the front. Maybe both? both it is a nice 8 and wouldnt look out of place in a 8.5 -9 at all
