Will Tim Tebow make the team?

doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

Last Tebow thread for a while, I promise. I'm curious about the results of this election. Will Tim Tebow make the Jaguars team and be on the roster during the regular season?

I think he'll put in enough work, correct his mistakes, and just barely make it. Plus Urban Meyer has a soft spot for Tebow, they're also neighbors, Urban can't say no!

He won't make the team but they may find a place for him in the organization.

I believe this story is from Tim Tebow's book, but I'm not sure. It's all over the internet, a guy confirmed actually witnessing it. Tebowmania is running wild brother!

Interesting, the custom card makers are coming out of the woodwork and pushing their cards on ebay already. It seems that people are anxious to have a card of him in a Jaguars uniform and none have been made yet by legitimate card companies, so custom card makers are producing these cards of him in a Jaguars uniform and they've already hit ebay.

3rd string tight end? Why not? He’s totally jacked up and still runs well enough for special teams and a blocking TE on goal line plays.

Ok, here's an interesting story, it seems Urban Meyer may have other plans for Tim Tebow.

Report: Urban Meyer may have a different role for Tim Tebow in mind with Jaguars

Tim Tebow’s move from quarterback to tight end has been a secondary storyline to all the attention he’s received about returning to the NFL and signing to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

But that may not be his only position in Urban Meyer’s new offense, as NFL insider Dianna Russini recently shared on ESPN’s “Get Up.”

“There are people in camp right now who strongly believe the reason why Urban Meyer brought Tim Tebow in is not to play tight end, but actually to use him in that utility role, that Taysom Hill role that we see Sean Payton use in New Orleans,” Russini said, per 247Sports

In terms of comparing the two, we always talk about on this show how much Sean Payton loves Taysom Hill. It’s been very obvious over the years. That same kind of love is what Tim Tebow and Urban Meyer have between each other. It could be a very similar situation, but in terms of football, this is something we could be seeing.”

While Tebow jerseys have seen soaring sales in recent days, the biggest question around this story in the offseason is if he’ll make the cut on Jacksonville’s 53-man roster or if the franchise has other plans for him, between the current 90-man roster and the one that starts the season.

We have an update on the Tim Tebow situation. Urban Meyer uses one word to describe Tim Tebow's performance so far with the Jags. That word is, "decent"

Urban Meyer Uses 1 Word To Describe Tim Tebow With Jaguars So Far

Tim Tebow dominated NFL headlines when he signed a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this offseason. But over the past few weeks, that hype has slowly subsided.

Since taking the practice field for the first time on May 20, the 33-year-old quarterback turned tight end has quietly participated in eight offseason training sessions.

Apart from a pair of short-yardage touchdown passes in the first practice open to media on May 27, Tebow has yet to do anything to prove he deserves a spot on the Jacksonville roster. With no prior experience at the TE position, the Jags likely won’t be able to get a good read on the former Heisman-winning quarterback until spring training.

Tebow’s former college coach and current NFL coach Urban Meyer addressed this issue on Thursday.

“You wish you could see and do [more],” Meyer said, via the Florida Times-Union. “In spring football, you have full pads and scrimmages, and you can really evaluate, but it’s kind of tough right now.”

From what he’s seen so far, Meyer has one telling word to describe Tebow’s play: “decent.”

“Oh, Tim has done a decent job,” Meyer said. “We all know this is a new position for him. He’s a great teammate. In the locker room, I can see everybody getting along, we have good chemistry on our team. But he’s picked it up decently.”

Nearly ten years removed from the NFL game and returning with zero tight end experience, Tebow has a tough task ahead of him.

It’s going to take a lot more than “decent” to earn a roster spot on this up-and-coming Jags team.

Well, we all knew it was a longshot to begin with.

If it wasn't for his relationship with Meyer, it would have been an impossibility.

I spoke to Urban a few days ago. He's always calling me for coaching advice. He can be a real pain in the neck at times, calling me at all hours of the day.

He told me he's releasing Tebow on the final cut.

You're just trying to sway the voters to vote "no", that's a very dirty and sneaky trick Steve. What's next, wire taps, slush funds? Don't listen to him everyone, he has never met Mr. Meyer!
