There are few classic United States sets as diverse, exciting, and challenging as the Silver Commemoratives 50-Piece Type Set, Circulation Strikes (1892-1954), a popular collecting objective one can achieve on the PCGS Set Registry. This set encompasses 48 silver half dollars, one silver quarter, and one silver dollar that were struck by the United States Mint during the late 19th through mid-20th century with special designs and issued to commemorate important landmarks, historical figures, and significant events.

At the bottom of the expanded article, they discuss the following pricing generalities. With this in mind, in early 2019 I started putting together the Registry set shown as a Digital Album in the hotlink below their pricing comments. Bold is by me:
In fact, some Classic Commemorative Half Dollars sell today for as little as 10% of their 1989 highs, and most can be purchased for between 20% and 35% of their late-‘80s prices.
This does not mean prices won’t decline further, but in recent years prices for many commemorative coins seem to have stabilized following decreases in the 1990s. Nobody has a crystal ball to tell if prices will increase in the future should interest in commemoratives increase. But for those who want to capitalize on building a fantastic assemblage of scarce, interesting coins at seemingly fortuitous price levels, the Silver Commemoratives 50-Piece Type Set, Circulation Strikes (1892-1954) Registry Set is well worth a look.

Congratulations on completing your beautiful 50 coin set. You were very fortunate to start your set in 2019 when CACs and "+"s were readily available as opposed to collectors who started back in the day and prices were much higher. The 144 set is probably overpowering for most collectors; but, a true competitive 50 coin Registry Set would distinguish between the common dates and the scarcer dates, mintmarks and add-ons such as stars.
The 50 Coin Silver Commemorative Coin Set is one of the most interesting and competitive sets of the PCGS Registry. I wanted a set since 1966 when I was a boy of ten years. I noticed them at the back of the Redbook. I also noticed how low the mintages and high expense of the coins. At that time I never thought I would possess a set. After graduating from pharmacy school in 1982 and after a few years of work I rejoined the numismatic community with a desire and finances to collect a set of commemoratives. So, early in 1996 my quest for a set began. It took me almost 15 years to assemble the collection I have today-The Overland Trail Collection. When the PCGS Registry was in its infancy the collection was pedigreed and ranked #2 from 1999-2001. Over the years the set has been upgraded but has fallen to the upper 20's. The prices for most of the coins were close to what they are today and have come down considerably from their highs in 2007-08. That means now is a good time to start a collection before prices rise. The set seems to have a cyclical nature in its demand and price structure. Here are a few coins from the collection.
