Posting 100 is acceptable as recognition of a thread milestone.

Posting 101 is a cheat post and is unacceptable. It's like throwing popcorn on the forum.

I must admit, I didn't think anyone would take notice of my shenanigans.

Kyrie is saying it’s racism lol. I mean yea he kept his composure but trying to stir it into more than what it is is typical nonsense from him. Also Kyrie don’t stomp on the Celtics logo and you probably won’t get stuff thrown at you.

How do you figure? Kyrie is saying it’s racism lol. I mean the right way to handle it is keep your mouth shut and let stadium security handle it. Oh and don’t stomp on the Celtics logo either.

"Exactly the right way" in my perspective based on previous comments throughout this thread, means that Irving didn't try to physically attack the idiot who threw the water bottle. Irving let stadium security handle it.

Punishment will be meted out by stadium officials, not by a punch in the guy's face by Kyrie Irving. That's exactly the right way in my view. :)

Whenever the media starts focussing on something like this, there is an agenda. I assume the NBA and other leagues want support for upcoming discussions revolving around changes to attendance policies. I am sure they worked up business models that involve them making even more money while allowing less people to attend. The non-vaccinated are already being ostracized. If they can just charge even higher prices for more exclusive "safe" seating they will do it.

I am sure many here might consider my words off topic or insensitive. But the way I see it is people like me are already priced out of live sporting events. That is unless I want to overpay for the worst possible seats.

Here’s Kryie, literally a minute before getting a bottle thrown at him, walking out to the Celtics logo and wiping his sneaker on the face in front of thousands of fans still in the stadium.

This loser instigated this entire interaction with Celtics fans days before they were heading to Boston and being the pos that he is made sure there was an incident that he could point to as racism before he left town.

Wiping your feet on an inanimate object and hurling a water bottle are way different things. Anyways the fan has been identified, is facing a felony charge and has received a life time ban.

We are not animals. We are not in the circus," Nets star Kevin Durant said on Sunday from Boston. "You coming to the game is not all about you as a fan. Have some respect for the human beings and have some respect for yourself. Your mother wouldn’t be proud of you throwing water bottles at basketball players or spitting on players or tossing popcorn. So grow the f*** up and enjoy the game. It’s bigger than you."

"It's been that way in history in terms of entertainment and performers in sports for a long period of time," Irving added on a conference call, "and just underlying racism and treating people like they're in a human zoo. Throwing stuff at people. Saying things. There's a certain point where it gets to be too much. I called it out. I wanted to keep it strictly basketball, and then you just see that people just feel very entitled out here.

"They pay for their tickets — great, I'm grateful that they're coming in to watch a great performance — but we're not at the theater. We're not throwing tomatoes and other random stuff at the people who are performing. It's too much, and it's a reflection on us as a whole when you have fans acting like that."

If Irving's silly antics warrant a fine or suspension, then the team or league can do so.

But the fan had no right to throw the water bottle at him which if it landed in a certain way on his face, could take out an eye. That type of fan behavior is unacceptable.

Fans can boo all they want, chant "scumbag" next time he's in town and maybe get him off his game. Now that's good sports entertainment. B)

Mark, the problem here is Durant’s teammate made it about the fans 2-3 days before either team had left Brooklyn knowing full well the type of reaction his words would ultimately lead to.

These guys talk about wanting respect but calling a team’s fan base a bunch of racists, (Kyrie) exchanging barbs with the fans during the entire game and in the end stomping on an inanimate object was viewed as disrespectful to the fans and out of the 17.6K people sitting in the stands one dumbass took it too far and will now pay the consequences for his actions, rightfully so.

All of this could have probably been avoided if Kyrie wasn’t such a coward and made such a huge deal about playing in front of Celtics fans. Had he just come out and just said I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing in front of Celtics fans for the first time in a Nets jersey everything probably would have been fine with him getting the normal booing like any visiting player. Yet he had to take it too far with his subtle racism comments then making it a bigger issue all week.

Ultimately this sensitive diva brought this all on himself. Also on a side note, apparently his big mouth erased all of the good juju that this spectacle gained him last time he was in Boston....

I stated earlier that players should be held to a higher standard than fans when it comes to the matters under discussion in this thread. In my view that goes for verbal language as well.

Any player calling an entire group of fans "racist" is quite repugnant and absolutely unacceptable.

Now let's see if the NBA will do the right thing and slap Irving with a hefty fine. Frankly, I'm not holding my breath that the gutless NBA will do it.

Kevin Durant made homophobic remarks in a twitter beef with an actor and was fined just 50K and Lebron broke the NBA's Covid protocol to attend a party hosted by Drake with no repercussions so I doubt that the NBA penalizes Kyrie after what has transpired this week.

Your explaining this to yourself because I never once said it was ok for the fan to throw the water bottle but really if your going to instigate stuff don’t cry racism when it happens.

Irving without a doubt is trying to instigate, and that's precisely why a heavy fine should be levied. Maybe he will then learn. If not, then next time the fines can be heavier.

Perhaps a fine of a year's salary will make him just shut-up and dribble.

Without question, LeBron thinks he is bigger than the league, and the gutless league officials treat him that way.

I only care that the fan is getting what he deserved. Maybe that will be a deterrent but sometimes you can't fix stupid or other flaws.

I just think he put a huge bullseye on his back by opening his mouth about something that really didn’t need to be said at all. He made it all about the “Boston fans” at a time when fans from all over the league were doing & saying some heinous things to players.

What happened to Trae Young was disgusting, what was said to Ja Morant’s family was beyond despicable and what happened to Russell Westbrook was the epitome of adding insult to injury but with Kyrie’s comments I truly believed he brought it all on himself by casting that first stone.

He had just scored 39 along with 11 boards in what will ultimately be the final NBA game played on that floor this season and he just had to act like an ass in front of all those fans. He already had the last laugh, his team won, yet he wanted to twist that knife one last time.

He is a bit of an ass. He's wired differently.

He has been getting the business from the fans as one would expect . I have zero problems with him stomping on a leprechaun. I wouldn't have done it but I don't see it as a big deal.

That fan in Boston got what he deserved. Irving should be suspended a few games. The fact that what the fan did was worse should not excuse Kyrie.
