ANACS called this a proof, I'm not 100% sure it is. It's got nice toning and the surfaces aren't nearly as bad as they look in the photo.

I think you are right to be skeptical, as the date placement is off compared to all other 1862 H10C proofs I've looked at. A pretty coin, in any case!

I think I only have two proofs in my set these days as I focus on circulated Business strikes

A war nickel and a Third Reich 10 Pfening as a curiosity from when I lived in Germany. I’ll see if I can find it

Love that '36 Eagle and old proofs, sadly none of mine even qualify. When I do get one, it will be an IHC.

These are the only two proofs I have dated before 1900. The nickel has a DDR. Notice the doubling on the annulet.
