Just now got the call. Jeff McKee has died. He was a second baseman. And a good one. Little Leaguer. One of my boys. A favorite. He was an L.A. County Sheriff's Deputy who died in the line of duty while helping someone. 38 years old. Leaves behind a wife and two kids. I called him "TIMMY" for a joke. I'm heartbroken..

P.S. He was off duty.....trying to assist.

Someday maybe I'll post a thread about the best little league team ever. Future major leaguers on that squad. One was a bench warmer who is now the hitting coach for a major league team. All the starters went on to play Division I or pro baseball except one. One is the head football coach at a Division I University right now. But most important.....they were all good kids. They had Moms and Dads who were always there for them. They have kept in touch. Family men ALL OF THEM. Beautiful children.......my boys.
