This is technically not just a Tom Brady thread

Bill Belichick just took a huge step away from the Tom Brady era. Now Mac Jones has to live up to the ghost of the GOAT

I realize that there are no more Patriots fans on this forum. They all became Bucs fans instead.

But i still thought this might be an interesting thread.

I think if Mac Jones blossoms into a super star quarterback, the debate as to who was more important in the relationship, Belichick or Brady, in regards to winning all those Patriots championships, has to be revisited.

At first glance, the selection does seem like a good fit for Belichick and Jones...perhaps a perfect fit.

Maybe if the Patriots win multiple Super Bowls with Jones, some of you Patriots fans who left Boston for Florida, might come back to Boston. Not that i really give a chit either way. 😉

I will come back after Brady retires but not yet.

If this thread isn't about just Tom Brady, then I refuse to participate any further!

I have been waiting and waiting for another Tommy thread. you got my hopes up and then dashed them into the rocks...

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Nope, once you've posted, then you must participate further.

It's clearly noted in the rule book.

I may have to change the thread title to draw in more traffic.

I'd hate to see this thread end with less than ten posts. 😞

I do think it was fairly telling that in the first year after the big breakup, that the patriots went from 12-4 and the playoffs to 8-8 and no playoffs.

Bradys team went from 7-9 and no playoffs to 11-5 and SB champions with almost the same team. they got Gronk shaking off the rust, 1/2 year of AB and got only 7 games out of Vita Vea.

I hope Mac comes in and gives us another 19 years of service and 6 more SB's. Maybe he will surpass Brady. He would have a long way to go to do that.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

You're very diabolical Steve, this is a very clever bait. It reminds me of the time I tried to trap ants in my kitchen.

How much longer does Bill have? It might not be long enough for any light to be shed on the Jones pick unless he’s a superstar right out of the gate.
I never believed in Mac as a top 5 pick and thought mid-1st would be about right. He’s in a great situation, so we’ll see how it goes.

Now back to this Tom Brady/Bill Belichick/Mac Jones situation we have here. It will be very interesting to follow this situation as it progresses. It is going to be fun watching this playout. Will Belichick be able to have success with the Mac Daddy?

Tom actually had a better slight edge over Mac Jones as far as pre-NFL gut photos are concerned.

I am still a Patriots fan.

I admire sports fan's loyalty to their home team. 👍

I think drafting Jones at least puts ya back in the race again.

Of course we shall see. QB's are so tough to gauge.

I too am still a Patriots fan having grown up in Walpole but right now I am following Brady as long as he chooses to play.

im still a pats fan as well. man, this is nothing compared with the terrible terribleness of the late 80s and early 90s patriots. what a dumpster fire that was.

i am also a Brady fan. i hope he does well also. i have often thought about what would happen if tommy and BB face off in the SB. i think there would be a super nova in my brain and my head would explode.

to add, I also continued to be fans of many other players once they left Boston teams: Dewey Evans, bruce hurst, wade boggs, roger clemens, paul pierce, KG and ray ray. while I don't really follow hockey, I was happy for ray Bourque when he finally won his stanley cup

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I was a big fan of Bobby Orr and saw him play in Boston Garden many times. He could skate circles around anybody.
