Bought this prooflike bust half awhile back, but just got some new true images recently.
Very happy with the job Phil at PCGS did on it. It really captures the beautiful toning. Thanks, Phil.

Post your beautifully toned prooflike coins if you got any.

Dave, is the coin designated PL? Based upon the images, it looks gorgeous and highly lustrous, but not PL to me.

Thanks, Mark. It’s a PCGS graded coin and obviously not MS, so unfortunately it’s not designated PL, although I wish PCGS would allow it for AU graded ones.
No, it’s not lustrous at all, but definitely has mirror like surfaces when rotated under a light.

Here are a couple more prooflike coins which I’ve posted numerous times before. They also have mirror like surfaces.

Thank you, Dave. I certainly don’t mind looking at coins like that!

There are many gorgeous coins in this thread, especially the bust half posted by @drddm
I would like to keep this threat alive and post a toned prooflike double eagle from the CC mint.

Beautifully toned proof or PL coins are among the most difficult to photograph accurately, IMHO.

Beautifully toned CAMEO COPPER toned proof or PL coins actually take days off your life when you try to photograph those....

    Philately will get you nowhere....

Currently ANACS MS66. This coin is my photography Mount Everest. I've tried a number of times to capture the PL appearance and am still not happy with the images. In hand, this coin looks like an early 60's proof. There is a TON of die polish on both sides, so I'm assuming this coin was struck right after the dies were polished and put back into service.

This one isn't PL, but the reverse is close to if not fully PL

The second shot is really old but show the color lit up a bit. Thought I had two versions taken more recently, but I guess not

This one in a fatty, and again, it's close if not there (at least the obverse), but not designated

The rims don’t say proof. But the details of these sharply struck buffs and surfaces do.
