interesting rule change for the upcoming season.
receiving team will only be allowed 9 players within 25 yards of an onside kick attempt.
I wonder if this will result In more attempts this season?
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Without giving it much thought, that's basically forcing the receiving team to stay in a regular kick return formation, even though in certain situations, everyone knows an onside kick is coming.
It wasn't broke and the NFL keeps trying to fix it. 🙄

I don't think it will. The new rule only seems to be just to give the onside kick a greater chance to succeed, in an obvious onside kick situation.
what I think we'll see is more "trick plays" to catch the receiving Team off-guard. once the sideline notices a Team backing up early on a kick-off they'll fool them with the onside kick. Special Teams Coaches will need to stress discipline and not selling out.
I think we are going to get to the points the nfl will convert to a Flag Football format.
Pretty soon they will change the shape of the football.
Like @SteveK said they keep trying to fix something that isn’t broke 🤷♂️
Make it into the shape of a frisbee.
Those commonplace 80 yard touchdown passes would be cool. 🙄
Onside kicks, due to the previous changes, were essentially impossible to convert last year. But kickers did start trying new techniques. This change would maybe make the attempts more possible to convert. If there's no chance it is less fun. I do like to see kickers get creative.
sounds like the NFL is trying to be more like MLB with changes that are not necessary
