Coin Price Magazines...

I've been out of the loop for just over a decade but I'm now finding some time to get involved again.

I used to use "Coin Prices" magazine as a reference for pricing (rough) and mintage numbers, my last copy is from March 2007. Yesterday I went to the store to get a fresh copy and can only find "Coins" magazine.

The "Coins" magazine is NOWHERE near as helpful as the "Coin Prices" magazine. It has no mintage numbers or reference pictures.

My question is, has the hobby gone so far south that this "Coin" magazine is the only thing we have left as a monthly/bimonthly magazine? From the looks of it, it won't be around too much longer either :(

printed paper anything has gone south. it is due to the rise of the online world.

prices now can come from online auction results. there was a thread on the us coin forum about the grey sheets changing their service. ask around on that forum and see what they say.

I use CoinFacts to get auction prices while checking the individual coins to see their quality and appeal. It's now free and a great resource. Red Book is handy for mintages and other info as well as general pricing. However, I would never refer to the Red Book for prices on Seated Liberty halves.

Coin world still has a printed coin magazine. As of May anyways. I picked one up at the local bookstore.
