When I was a kid, I bought the Benjamin Franklin stamp (June 1, 1976 issue, I believe) that was jointly issued with Canada, and had the postmaster of a nearby town cancel it in my “Bicentennial Passport” (remember those?!). The date on his cancellation was before the stamp was issued. For years, I thought that was special.

It looks like someone in the post office was able to backdate the cancellation stamp and created a fantasy item.
And probably prohibited to do.![:/ :/](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/confused.png)

I really don't remember exactly when I got it but I believe it was in the fall of 2001 sometime.
