Luka Magic

Seriously..............WOW

This kid's physical skills are OFF THE CHARTS. His poor handling of the prior possession set up the crazy ending. But when his mental game matures a bit, I think he will be one of the greatest ever.

I agree. I started a thread on him here early in his career. I live near Dallas and have followed his career closely since a little before he was drafted. There was a lot of local talk before the draft in regards to the Mavericks pick and whether to take Luka. So I started watching video of him then from his Europe days.

Edit to add: yes, barring injury, should be one of the greatest ever. Needs to mentally mature. How and when this will happen is frequently discussed on sports radio here, as is his game in general.

Long time Mavs fan here........back to the Jackson/Mashburn/Kidd days.

Because of that, I bought up a nice little hoard of Luka RCs in 2018. One of the best moves I've made in the past 10 yrs.

I grew up in Massachusetts. Celtics fan. Moved to the Dallas Fort Worth area in 2006. I truly appreciated being close to Dirk as his career unfolded. And watching and learning about Luka so much from the beginning has been amazing as well.

Check out this video of what Luka did before a game the other night.

Its pretty crazy how good this kid already is at that age and he’s only going to better with more NBA experience. For those that haven’t seen last nights game winner...

For those of us who follow the Mavs, the immediate look on the face of Porzingis is very telling.

    That shot is ridiculous. Unreal.

Luka is putting up ridiculous numbers. He put up 21/6/8 as a teenager. 29/9/9 last year. Basically the same this year.

Imagine how good he'll be when he becomes a good 3-pt shooter (career 33.3% right now).

do you think he can be better than Lebron? I know of Luka, but don't follow the nba closely enough to really have much of an opinion.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I think that he’s on a very similar path to stardom as Lebron was at the same age and just looking at their stats at 22yrs old (luka’s current age) shows you close they really are.
    Lebron: 27.3ppg, 6.7rpg, 6.0apg
    Luka: 28.6ppg, 7.9rpg, 8.6apg

Luka obviously has a long way to go before he comes anywhere close to replicating a career like Lebron’s but he’s on the right path imho. Now Dallas has to go find a better supporting cast for him.

in March 2020 when I saw him play IP (the season was put on ice due to the panny while the game was still going on), I was amazed by his court vision. dude was like a bald eagle out there, rifling passes thru very tight windows and putting the ball on the money, whether it be on a fast break or in a half-court set. then of course there was his ability to put the biscuit in the basket..........it became very evident, very quickly that he's just a natural scorer of the basketball.

i walked away from watching him with a couple of thoughts. 1) he's a 21-yr-old with an all-around game like a seasoned vet, and 2) he'll one day surpass Dirk as the best player in franchise history

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

One big difference is that, from day one, Luka wanted the ball for the last shot.

i was. the news started making its way around the arena toward the end of the 3rd quarter, so it was pretty surreal watching the rest of the game knowing that there would be no more basketball for no telling how long.

Luka was Luka, but it was the Boban Abdul-Jabbar game...........he went off for 31 & 17

@galaxy27 I don't know if you have ever heard Boban being interviewed at length, but he is a very interesting and funny guy.

Edited to add: Recently, he was on sports radio, and they asked him if he was going to be in John Wick 4. He answered , and I'm paraphrasing Unfortunately my character died , so I'll just be watching it on my couch
