I saw that coin on the Whitlow website. It looked nice there but I bet it looks nicer in your collection.

P.S.: The only thing I might ask from Larry Whitlow--actually, also from Mike Printz--is that he REFUSE TO SELL YOU ANY COINS!!!! I mean, how in the world are the rest of us supposed to compete if you are out there buying? Stop it!!
are lures supposed to look like that???
nice coin guy, just not what I collect is all

Nice coin. I have bought several coins from Whitlow. I like doing business with them. They usually have nice coins.
Looks like you are going for a toned set.
By the way. Which type set did you register? And what is it's name?
Jon
Talked to Mike on the Phone Tuesday and that is When it went in the Mail. Pretty Darn Good, both by Whitlow and the Postal Service. And Yes I know what You are thinking about the Coin with the Blotchy Tone. Come on Tell Me what You Really Think !! Geez have I Converted You to TONED BEAUTIES ??
Jon:
Its the Very Meager "Columbia River Gorge Set" in the Early Copper, Nickel, Silver Registry. Just a Side Light to keep interest Up as the Last Merc's are Harder to Find at The Price and Look that I want. Just Could Not Pass on this 28S though. The Pictures do it No Justice. It Really is Quite Pretty and Probably the Oddest Tone Scheme I have Seen.
Thanks Guys for the Comments. Slowly the White Coins are Hitting the # 2 Set.

I was at a show in Colorado Springs yesterday. Rather than taking the interstate highway, I took a more leisurely and scenic route from the Denver area, with Pike's Peak in the background most of the way. Anyway, I found just one toned Merc, a 1919-D in MS64. It was priced between Greysheet bid and ask, which is fair, but the strike was a little too soft for my taste, and I passed on it. I haven't seen a lot of '19-D's, so perhaps I missed a good opportunity. The good news is that I found a couple of the more common dates that I needed for my set. I'll have them photographed and added sometime tomorrow morning.
For you state quarter enthusiasts: the Denver Mint had a table at the show, and they were giving away Louisiana quarters packaged in a sealed plastic bag that probably contains PVC, plus a grab bag where you get to reach into a container and pull out an earlier date state quarter (also sealed). I later had an opportunity to look through a roll of Denver mint Louisiana quarters, and overall they are by far the best quality "D" mints of any in the series, IMO. I plucked out 5 that I thought were exceptional, some that are solid MS66's, and a couple that I think are MS67's. I don't actively collect the state quarters, but if they all looked as nice as these Louisiana's, I might have to begin.
