lightningboy
I was reading an old thread today and saw a comment by lightningboy. It suddenly occurred to me that I hadn’t seen any posts from Tom in quite awhile. I clicked on his profile and saw this message from his daughter. Given where it was posted, I never saw it at the time (October of 2020) and I imagine many others didn’t either. I corresponded with Tom pretty regularly about wacky packages, and bought quite a few graded wackys from him over the years. He was a good guy and an avid collector. I am sorry to hear this news and wanted to acknowledge it publicly. RIP Tom.
“My name is Emily, and my father ran this account. I know he spent a lot of time on here because he used to tell me a lot about what was going on in his discussion boards and who "liked" something he commented etc. I'm sorry to say he passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in August. My dad had such a love for sports cards and memorabilia. He left everything he owned (boxes upon boxes filling an entire room) to me and my little brother. I feel overwhelmed at the moment trying to think of what to do with it all. If my dad had his way, I would look up the prices of every individual card he owns to make sure I was getting the best prices for everything. But, as a 23 year old with virtually no knowledge beyond the little I've picked up from him over the years, I'm at a loss. If anyone has any tips for me, or suggestions on how to go about possibly selling some of his cards I'd really appreciate it. I'm grateful my dad had somewhere to share his love of cards with likeminded people.”

oh man. tom was definitely good people!
ugh.....that's awful. Did anyone reach out to his kids?
I’m not sure, but I don’t think anybody ever saw the message. The only way you would see it would be to click on his profile.
That’s too bad. You’re always too young to lose a parent, but 23 and younger is way too young to lose a parent.
Very sorry to hear this.
He seemed like a really nice fellow.
Very sad indeed, prayers for his family.

Does anybody know where he lived? There's gotta be someone on here that is local to him and would volunteer to go take a look.

I think he was from Northern California, but I don’t have an exact address.
