Question for you pack submitters

What is the largest pack PSA will slab, both in terms of height/width and in terms of depth (number of cards in the pack)?

I'd really like to submit a modern fat pack but am concerned it contains too many cards and/or they would cram it into the space designated for a wax pack and bend all of the extra plastic wrapping.

Many thanks for any help.

i gauge it off of '89 fleer cello.

anything close to that won't get slabbed.

I recently had an 86 Topps FB cello come back authentic but too thick for a PSA slab- still got charged too, gotta love PSA.

It had extra 1000 yard club cards on top from the factory so it was too large. Talked to Steve at BBCE and he said hold tight, as PSA was working on getting larger holders for them and 89 Fleer cellos, etc.

I sent in a handful of 1989 fleer cellos with Griffey on top recently, hopefully they get that thicker holder soon. I won’t be happy to pay and not have them slabbed.

I’ve been tracking the pop report for 1989 fleer cellos and 2 have been added since I sent my packs in. Total graded went from 69 to 71. That’s the only evidence I have that they may be grading them.

They shouldn't have charged you. I have had 1989 fleer baseball cellos and 1989 bowman cellos come back as authentic but too large....and I didn't get charged for them.

Wow, that small? They really need to expand. Just about everything modern that isn't a wax pack is larger than that. Well this was a big bucket of crap news.

    Thanks for all the responses.

yep. i wish they'd create a holder where they wouldn't have to fold the top/bottom flaps on some of these newer packs too.

I would say about six months. Nice and beefy. Game changer for optics compared to the garbage bag awful look folded over.

Not yet, lot rumors about size for 89 Fleer Etc.

  • tkerstingtkersting Posts: 136 ✭✭✭

Population report for 1989 fleer cello packs went from 71 to 72 with an additional Griffey pack graded. Hopefully this means they are able to grade thicker packs.

  • StatsGuyStatsGuy Posts: 100 ✭✭✭

I have 2 1989 Fleer Cellos (Griffey on Top) at PSA, ,submitted about 2 weeks before the "shutdown." After concerns from this site, I sent an email to PSA questioning whether the slab them. I

    Here is the response:
    Hi,
Thank you for reaching out to PSA Customer Service.

I apologize for the delay in responding back to you.

I have not heard that we have not been accepting those packs. If we were to no longer grade those then when the cards are in the research and ID step then it would be listed that we no longer grade the packs. If they are deemed that we do not grade them then you will not be charged the grading fee.

If there are any further questions, please let us know.
    Have a great day!

Series 1 with a Bird on top means a key card is hiding in that MINT 9 beauty...nice pack!

Yes, Admiral should be there. I will never know!!!

  • StatsGuyStatsGuy Posts: 100 ✭✭✭

Which is the better 1989 Hoops Series 1 "Star on Top"- Jordan or Jordan All Star? Probably sending them and Robinsons on top for $20 fee is probably not bad. I think PSA is still taking packs.

What's the best "Player Comp" you can come up with in terms of David Robinson card values?

Just as an FYI the 1989 Fleer cello pack population went from 69 in March to 99 graded today. It seems like they definitely have a thicker holder for packs if we are using 1989 Fleer as a gauge.
