Ahh, a nice refreshing glass of cold organic apple juice makes this 3-0 record even sweeter. 🍎

    Mets are undefeated also. ;)

Was puzzled that they beat them, but Nola and the two Zax all pitched well.

Congrats Steve on the Phillies, and I have also been on an apple binge lately. I enjoy a good piece of fruit, it used to be oranges, but lately it's apples. I put them in the fridge so they're nice and cold, there's nothing like a good cold apple from the fridge.

Mets are somewhat a heavy favorite to win their opener in Philly tonight. Little bit unusual odds for a team in their first game of the season facing a hot team on the road.

The bridge jumpers might be all over this one. 🌉

Buy organic apples versus regular apples. Big difference in healthiness.

Fuji organic apples are my personal favorite.

Stupid wind in game 1 took a couple Braves homers away.

Gotta carefully pick my spots for some sort of Philly sports enjoyment because sadly it looks like a very dry spell coming up for the Phillies and Eagles.

Considering those bookie odds for tonight's game, I get a bad feeling in my bones the undefeated excitement is going to come to an abrupt end tonight. So i'll enjoy it for about another 12 hours or so.

As a Braves fan I tip my hat. But it's a long season. We were swept by the fightins a couple years ago to begin the season and we ended up ok that season. But like I said tip of the hat to that Phils pitching this weekend. Well earned.

    Make it 4-0

  • stevekstevek Posts: 28,878 ✭✭✭✭✭

Attention Mets fans. The headline on this thread has been updated for your viewing pleasure.

    Thank you for your participation.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 28,878 ✭✭✭✭✭

Vince Velasquez comes in for one inning. Gives up 4 runs with 4 walks. 🙄

Well it appears that the Phillies quest for an undefeated season is coming to an end.

Could be worse. My Braves quest for 0-162 is still alive and well, Ugh!

And yes, I'm keeping the thread headline as is, to remind myself of good times in early April, at the end of this baseball season when the Phillies are 20 games out of first place.

I like this idea. This thread is sort of like that Foles statue...

But at least Foles won something.

I'll be very surprised if this Phillies 2021 team goes anywhere.

I'll gladly take the 2 outa 3 in the series against the stinkin' Mets...and a 5-1 record.

Time for a nice refreshing glass of cold organic grape juice. 🍇

So you changed the title. Why?

the last week has not been kind to Philly as they went 1-4, but the season is early. it'll take about a month before the standings reach some sort stability. right now is weird, in the space of three games a Team can go from last to first or vice versa.

The Phillies will live or die with a healthy Aaron Nola this year. I do like the Phanatic. Best reason to go to the ballpark
is to see that guy perform.

I love to see Wheeler get wheeled around...

To steal an old line, pennant fever in Philadelphia is just a 24-hour virus.

With "superstar" Bryce Harper at 28 years old, playing like he's 38 years old.

Sorry Stevek, but I bet on the mets last night.

I'm going to take a look at Aaron Nola's first inning today. Could be a good day to bet on the fightin' Phils.

I've decided to quit following professional sports and take up bird watching instead.

Here is a very pretty bird. Notice the blue shoes which are really cool.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 28,878 ✭✭✭✭✭

Bryce Harper having a good season thus far batting .238

That is "good season" for hitting if he was a pitcher. 😒

We'll see if your system works in this game.

Placed it actually before the game today because Aaron’s last outing was not a good one and thought he’d come back strong. This Phillies offense needs to give him a little more support.

7 k’s for Nola through five. Schmidt is on the broadcast today.

Bryce with a dinger and double through five.

  • GoldenageGoldenage Posts: 3,278 ✭✭✭✭✭

10 k’s through eight. Time to cash out if he’s pulled in the 9th.
