Early flip and possibly the grading standards were not as well defined as they are now.

I was going to say it was a 4 and submitter asked for no qualifiers but then I saw who’s auction it was. Never mind.

PSA does not adhere to their back standards for centering from my experience with 50s cards. There are ‘55 Bowmans graded as 8 that show the card next to it on the back similar to that Mantle.
