Home Buy, Sell & Trade - Cards & Memorabilia

Entire Collection

Ok guys, question for y'all. I stopped even looking at cards back in '95. And I just don't have time anymore for anything. Any suggestions on where I should even start looking to get rid of everything I have? It's not too much, just possibly 2 of those large white boxes (5 rows in each) loose and quite a few boxed sets, all sealed. I honostly couldn't even tell you whats in there anymore it's been so long. I don't just want to list them on ebay and miss out because of the chance there might be quite a few good cards in there, but then again I don't have time to go out and look at each one individually. I contacted all the stores around here but no one's interested in looking through the loose ones (even though 99% of them are in perfect condition. I did however get a hold of someone in the newspaper looking to purchase large quantities and he said he would come out and appraise them all for $15/hr and if I sell them that I have to give him first chance on them. Is this good? I don't have a clue anymore and it's time I push them out the door. Suggestions would be so helpful! Thanks!!! Or if anyone's around Central Illinois (doubt it but worth a shot) and wants to come look through them, please haha! image Thanks.

  • $15.00 an hour to appraise you're cards, what a rip off. You look through the cards, if you have any good players and they're in good shape you probably have something. I'll tell you what will happen if you have that "appraiser" look at you're cards. 1) he'll probably stay for about three hours when he'll be able to tell in one hour if you have anything. 2) If you do have something and he knows it, he will probably tell you it's not worth much, but he will give you $50.00 for it. So you will actually get about $5.00 for it after you give him his $45.00 fee. So why don't you just sit down for a couple of hours on you're next day off, pick out the cards that you think might be something, then come back here and let us know what you have. Besides, I'm sure there are a lot of people that hang out here that know a lot more about cards than this so called "appraiser". And you can't beat the price.

Look for these things when checking over you're collection.

    1. Star Players
    2. Surface Of The Card (nice color, no scratches or bad ink)
    3. Centering Of Card
    4. Corners And Edges
    5. Brand Of Card ( is it Topps, Topps Chrome, Upper Deck or whatever)

Culpepper to ?, only God knows at this point!
  • If you stopped buying back in 95 you might not have anything too big unless it is gem mint. Sure you might find a good rc, but after putting it in a box for 7 years, it probably isn't gonna be in gem mint condition and would be lucky to be in NM-MT. If you know the brands you used to buy, that would help, because if it was like most people back then the lower end base issue products from the companies aren't as worth as much as the other products they produced like SP and SPX for UD and Finest for topps. If you know what years might be in there, that would be a help also, because you could just look in a beckett and see if there are any big cards you might have.
