Wow... nice collection... I only have one error coin... off-center strike... I'd love to get more but I'm 16 and I'm not getting a job 'till Summer. Even then I'll be more focused on renting an apartment, buying a car, making money for college, etc.
Better priorities. I have a few errors, and have fun looking at them. Non-US seems less obsessed but on the Japanese side some of them can be quite competitive in the bidding.
I just purchased what was advertised as a possible stamping error coin. A 1968 $1 stamped on a 50 c planchet. I has a diameter of 31 mm, weighs 15.6 g, no reeding on the edge. Seems thicker than a regular $1, at least the edge is.
I don't think this is the case (see pictures), but I can't figure our what it is. Has anyone seen anything similar?
Any comments would be appreciated.

That coin has been "spooned" or hit with a hammer on the edge to possibly make a ring.

Does no one like error coins here ?

I think errors are far more appreciated in the US side of the forums. I think they are cool but know little about them myself.

@Clio My next variety coin will be the famous 1972 doubled die, but that 1 will have to wait until I get more credit card debt paid back.

Here is a video to demonstrate spooning a coin to make a ring. Link: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Picture+of+a+spooned+coin+process&&view=detail&mid=E97ED4928EE52FCF9AE1E97ED4928EE52FCF9AE1&&FORM=VRDGAR&ru=/videos/search?q=Picture+of+a+spooned+coin+process&FORM=HDRSC3

Thanks for the info. It's amazing what people will do.
I like them and I have some, but I do not collect them.
