Unlike third-party payments processors, in the event of a full refund or cancellation, the variable percentage portion of the final value fee will generally be returned to the seller, while eBay will retain only the per order fee of $0.30.

I sell a lot, have a store, use MP, and all that jazz. I don’t really keep track of what the deltas are between PayPal and MP, in the end it just doesn’t matter to me. I sell on eBay due to the familiarity and customer base. I also don’t do it to make money, it’s a byproduct of the hobby I suppose. Weird hobby to have but I’m a weird person.
MP spits out my money every day, no more worries there. It hits my bank in about 1 full business day.
Although I’m not a fan of having a direct link to my bank account, I don’t lose sleep over it.
All is well in the world.
Didn't PayPal also have a direct link to your bank account?
Yes, I think I meant to say that having an “auto debit” for eBay fees and things of that nature. It was easy to pay my account fees and see the total costs before. Now MP just does it all per transaction. My listing software keeps track of the profit/loss and that’s where I usually pull reports. 🤷♂️
I sell quite a bit, and have to say managed payments has been fine, no problems or issues. I set the payment dump weekly, (which occurs on tue, which IMO is a good business day due to potential holidays, etc) Money is always there on wed am. I have had 6 payouts with no issues so far. Also 1 return in which i got the fees back, unlike pp.
as far as the accounting issues, i keep up with mine monthly, feb was a bit confusing, but was able to work thru it due to two different systems and changeover, but march should be easy. info is still there for expenses, postage, etc, just have to tabulate the right column.

YOU MEAN WE HAVE ANOTHER REASON TO LOVE MANAGED PAYMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do they have fan T-shirts that I could wear?

In these situations:
You and the buyer agree to cancel the transaction
The buyer doesn't pay and you report it as an unpaid item
You refund a buyer in full for a return or an item not received request, or you initiate a refund through the refund flow
You issue a voluntary refund for a payment dispute
Fees credited:
Final value fee (variable component only. The $0.30 per order fee will not be credited)
Promoted listings fee
Any applicable additional final value fees for not meeting performance expectations
International fee (if applicable)
Note: For managed payments transactions where eBay performed currency conversion and a refund is issued within 120 days of the original transaction, the exchange rate used at the time of the original transaction will apply.
You are not eligible for fee credits in any of the following situations:
You refund the buyer outside of eBay (using PayPal to send money, for instance)
You issued a partial refund to the buyer
You or the buyer asked us to step in, and the case was closed with a refund to the buyer
I imagine the bolded items are not what's included in "generally", but you'd have to ask eBay to be sure.

For all of you complaining and bitching...why are you on Feebay? you know darn well why... it's the eyes that look at your offers!! 24/7. They also make it clear that if you do not agree with THEIR terms, you can cancel your account!
and why do they do that: because they can !! and they do not need YOU. However, they do need US together.
The same goes for PP. all my Opinion...
The Paypal 1099 includes sales tax collected and remitted by ebay, so you need to know that amount, in order to reconcile the 1099 with your actual sales total. There is a report that summarizes the sales tax, but you have to go through it and add them up. I modified my spreadsheet to compile this info.

I love eBay. eBay has always treated me fairly. eBay remains the cheapest internet marketplace with the most eyeballs.
For $22 per month (store) I can put my whole inventory up there and get dozens or hundreds of people looking at each and every item. Or, I could spend $300 or more to spend 2 days set up at a show where maybe 50 people look at 10% of my inventory.

Agreed. I don't see any other plausible interpretation. The various cases are pretty black and white.
New Coke comes to mind when companies tinker with a long standing working system.
I think of cable TV, cell phones, the internet, and electric cars.
But, all kidding aside, all of this belly-aching ignores the history of PayPal and the industry standard.
Managed Payments is NOT AN INNOVATION OR A CHANGE.
PayPal WAS eBay Managed Payments. eBay spun it off so it would be viewed as a separate entity and could gain more widespread traction.
Amazon uses managed payments. Shopify uses managed payments. Virtually every internet marketplace uses some form of managed payments.
I'll send you one of mine:
The price of gold is set by faith, or lack of, in the currency it is priced in.
When I switch to managed payments I will be dumping paypal.
Why?
Paypals nonsense with keeping their fee on returns just cost me $150.
eBay's managed payments program will keep the 30c processing fee, but return the rest.
That alone would have saved $149.70 here.

You'll likely not get much in the way of useful insight from those who call it "Feebay" then.
Just sayin'.
That PayPal spreadsheet is crazy.
Already did.
I have a PayPal debit card. It is linked in my payment options at eBay. If I want to pay with PayPal I just select the PayPal card number.
Why? I am happy to just use credit card to buy without paypal as middle man.
Man, this is crazy.
I feel uber secure using Paypal. Always did.
