I remember watching this game and at first, I didn't realize he was out cold.

I didn’t see that game but I absolutely remember it. Good for him to have the smarts to walk away after that

I did see the game and remember him being out. It looked really, really bad. Of course, I expected him to come back but I'm glad he didn't. Like you said, good for him getting out.

And, I think, if you watch his TV interviews and TV work in the first year or two after he retired, he seemed to still be feeling the effects. He wasn't "right". He seems much better now.

I believe Troy Aikman was out cold for a few seconds after taking this vicious hit. He threw a perfect pass that resulted in a 75 yard TD, but took a bad hit. This hit looked a lot worse than the one Steve Young took, Aikman was down a long time. You got to be tough to play this game.

I remember that well. a shame. similar happened to Warner and as mentioned above, Aikman.

I think that Young is very underrated. he was as physically talented as anyone who ever played the position, coupled with a very high IQ and football IQ. great arm and a great runner.

He was Patty Mahomes before Patty was born.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I'm generally not one for wussifying the game of football. However when it comes to the QB position, i totally agree with the rule changes and protections which have taken place over time.

Those were smart ideas and necessary ideas. And overall it makes for a better game.

I wholeheartedly agree with stevek honestly, most people like to watch great QB play. It is counter productive to the league to allow defensive players to be able to tee off on QBs. look at the injuries players like Montana, young, aikman, manning, brady, marino etc have gone through.

Infamous hit on Terry Bradshaw. Even back then it got a flag.

I mean it's obvious this punk defensive player intentionally wanted to cripple Terry Bradshaw. If he did this today, he'd likely be fined very heavily and suspended for at least a year, and good for that.

BTW, the player did that to Bradshaw after the whistle blew.

I had forgotten about those hits on Bradshaw and McMahon. He was definitely trying to hurt Bradshaw, and that McMahon hit was just insane, he didn't even have the ball!
