😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Well, he'll also be facing what looks like a very good Vikings defensive line with the return of Michael Pierce, Danielle Hunter and the newly acquired Dalvin Tomlinson.
We'll see who's laughing at the end of the year!
Joe, it'll probably be Aaron.
We shall certainly see. I am predicting the Vikings will be MUCH improved on defense this year.........as long as Danielle Hunter comes back fully recovered from neck surgery. Michael Pierce opted out last year due to covid, and he should be back too.
Barr (also returning from a major injury) and Kendricks are very good linebackers and the two rookie corners performed well last year. Harrison Smith is one of the best safeties in the NFL.
I'm hoping they wipe that stupid grin off of his face. I am not betting on it though.
GO VIKINGS!
I’m not a Vikings fan by any stretch but I’m with @JoeBanzai in hoping they smash Rodgers only because I can’t stand his pompous attitude
YEAH BABY!!!!!!
Bottom line is that Rodgers needs to win another SB to bookend his career, and a first round bye would help that cause. And running the table in the division goes a long way towards that goal. Easier said than done. The Vikings look formidable and won't just roll over , and I already predicted a successful run from Dalton (might be a called QB rushing play, might be a playoff berth). And Goff could bring some LA magic to Motor City. Any Given Sunday.
I hope your Vikings DL knocks the moustache right off Aarons face.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
I thought Rodgers was going to make a run last year. Time is running out on him, I think/hope!
The Vikings are getting back (if fully recovered) 2 All-Pro players on defense in Barr and Hunter. The 2 new defensive tackles are being raved about as great run stoppers. Barring (pun intended) a bunch of injuries, the defense should be top 10, maybe top 5.
The offense again is going to hinge on the O line as they cut their left tackle (please resign with us Riley!!!!!) and still need at least one stud guard to help maintain some kind of pocket for Cousins. Mark my words, if they give Kirk a nice pocket, he will light it up!
I was not happy to see the Bears sign Dalton. He looked good against the Vikes last year and Chicago has been looking for a solid QB for a while. Their defense slipped a bit last year, but the Vikings always seem to have trouble with the Bears.
Vikes have signed Patrick Peterson. Now we need a couple of offensive lineman. Looks like they will try to find them in the draft. The Vikings have had pretty a poor record in drafting for those positions other than Brian O'Neil.
Peterson has been all pro for most of his career, so he looks like a great pick up. He did get suspended for PEDs a couple years ago.
The defense is looking great for next year!
When you get to face Tua, Sam and Cam 6 times a year.
"I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
Don't expect the Patriots to just roll over. We are going to put up a fight.
And don't forget that Rodgers won't have the same center.
the fortunes of one Team, in this case the Vikings, always seem to be through the roof when they make off-season changes. you homers understand that the rest of the NFL isn't standing pat, right??
Mmmm, doughnuts...
Right. And everyone looks better on paper before the season starts. Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face and everyone is undefeated in March.
"I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
Absolutely.
As I stated elsewhere, with the salary cap dropping, there is going to be a lot of movement, and teams below the cap should be able to pick up some good players at a bargain.
The optimism is increased in Minnesota because the Vikings have not only added a couple of high quality players, (one "homer" report says the best two defensive free agents available) but two All Pros (Barr 4x and Hunter 2x) and a third high quality player also return who missed all of last year. Adding 5 good/great veteran players should be reason for optimism!
There is still some concern about the two second year corners, but they looked pretty good last year on a team with no pass rush, almost dead last in the NFL, and a rush defense that WAS last in the league. If you start out as the worst, it's a lot easier for a team to improve. I look for them to improve a GREAT deal!
The Vikings still need O-Line help. Hopefully they can get some help there in the draft. If the don't trade down, they should be able to get at least one quality offensive lineman who can become a starter right away.
Besides SOME of us might be a bit tired of hearing about the East coast teams ad infinitum!
Go Vikings!
@JoeBanzai $20 M question to you. Do you really think Cousins is an elite QB and is he the answer in Minnesota?
2. Where would you rate him in the league? Top 10? Top 15?
"I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
First, I would like to repeat myself that I was not too excited about spending so much money on a QB when we got him.
I thought Keenum was good enough, as long as the Vikings had the #1 defense. Then the defense stopped playing in the second half of the "Mpls Miracle" game and totally sucked against the Eagles in the NFC Championship.
Cousins is an extremely accurate passer with great arm strength, he seldom misses an open receiver, however, he has the bad habit of "shutting down" under pressure and the Vikings have been one of the worst pass blocking O lines in the entire league. Especially at Center/Guard where their "zone blockers" are not strong enough (or good enough) to slow the inside pass rush.
I think Cousins' "eliteness" really depends on how good of a pocket he has to work from. With an average line, he would be solidly in the top 10 every year. He actually has been already if you look at QB Rate. With excellent pass blockers, he would probably rank as good as anyone.
But this would only be if he got at least the average amount of time to pass on every play.
Last year, especially when the Vikings were in sure passing situations, the defensive pass rushers were often actually chasing Kirk as he was backing away from center, he often had no chance. That's why IMO his interception % went way up.
Cousins is certainly not a guy like Mahomes or Wilson, he's not even as good at avoiding rushers as Roethlesberger. I am not real familiar with Deshaun Watson, but other than Mahomes, Wilson and Rodgers, I really don't see anyone I would rather have. Allen did look great last year.
You don't need an "elite" quarterback to win Super Bowls. but if your going to spend 20-30% of your salary on a QB that can't buy himself a little extra time, you better find a way to give it to him. _So far it's been a stupid move getting him. _
He's a "poor man's" Dan Marino, give him some protection!
