A semi settle coin for now for my peace dollar collection

ACopACop Posts: 1,479 ✭✭✭✭✭

I have the impossible dream of having a greatly toned peace dollar example for every issue. But that will likely never happen as I have never even seen any for many different years and mintmarks in pictures or otherwise. The 1928 has been particularly on my radar for about 10 years even though there are some years where Ive seen even less. I think Ive seen one really nice 28 rainbow and then a few with hints of what could have potentially been there. So ive had hopes to find one. Same idea with the 1921 for which I did find and is one of my favorite coins. But for now I felt like I had to have a 28 even if it didnt fit my goals. But I still like this one so I'll call it a semi settle until the right one ever comes along. I'll throw in a bonus GTG game though I think its properly graded so not fishing for any omg thats really a 6x! Anyway, my toned 1928 for now:

  • Check out the toned 1934-P in upcoming DLRC auction. It is very nice.

Specializing in coins with "thin film interference" & "sulfur impregnated surfaces" due to hanging out with "old bags" and "wrappers"

The shiny area is die polish

I've been looking for a decently toned Peace dollar for years. Here is my "settle for" coin - at least for now.

Nice coin, I think in many ways I "settle" on every coin I have that wasn't given to me. Good luck with the collection!

63 is correct gtg. It has some hazy overlays you see on dollars on the reverse. Those hazes you can only see at an angle. Straight away it looks clean.

Wow, that was a pretty fast reveal. My first impression was that the obverse is 64ish, but then the reverse brought it back to 63. So while I think it's correctly graded, the money side (obverse) punches above its weight. Pleasing coin overall.

    Very nice!
This seems to be a pretty hot area of the market.
I broke up my raw set that had a number of toners over the past year, with coins going to four different members. The first coin to go was the 28P, and it got into a 58 holder just like he wanted.
And I’m keeping a few for myself, of course.

Sure, not a great pic, and not a stellar toner, but you get the idea:
