Roll searcher question on dimes

rec78rec78 Posts: 5,623 ✭✭✭✭✭

Hello, I am aware that a lot of searchers here order boxes of coins to search. But, I do not know if anyone orders and searches dimes. Are there no worthwhile clad dimes (Other then silver or errors) to search for? Does anyone here order and search clad dimes for varieties or special dates? I realize that the thing to order now is quarters and one may not have the time for dimes. Are dimes not worthy of searching? I just may order some just for the fun of it. Other then silver and error coins what do you search for in dimes?

Hi, how are ya doin? Yes, dimes are very cool to search. I think you have a better chance to find silver in a dime bank box than a quarter bank box. Other than silver, there is the variety aspect and the album filler. Also one searches for high condition coins as well. Once in a great while, if you're lucky, you'll catch a Mercury dime. Or even a Barber. The only downer is that they are very small to handle between the fingers. Lol. Now, your thread is making me want to go to my bank and ask for a box. Lol. But right now, I'm still working on a half box of Cents and two boxes of quarters. And 5 rolls of the Half Dollars. Long weekend. Keep in the hunt.

There is a missing mintmark in the 1980s that is valuable, but otherwise you are mostly looking for errors or silver.

There is an outside chance of finding a 1996-W that was originally in a mint set.

    Besides silver.. 67-DDO, 68-DDO, 69-D RPM, 70-DDR, 70-D DDR, 82 No p, 83 RPM.

There's a bunch of clad proof errors out there but you probably won't see many in circulation. If you see any proofs, just hold onto them.

Quarters are easier to spend, count, and recycle.

Not as much a burden as the other denominations.

Outside of wide/close AM cents the biggest bang per buck.

New dimes are torturous difficult time consuming monstrously challenging evil little things that require total focus and your full attention...and I loooooove them.

Not many varieties to look for but I absolutely love looking for particularly fantastic MS coins...new rolls, mint rolls...
For me it's just so satisfying to find that nearly untouched specimen.
I've searched plenty of dimes over the decades...Haven't see a silver dime in a roll since the early 80's, true story lol.

Judging by the number of responses after two weeks, I guess that CRH for dimes just isn't worth it. Dimes have no fun. :'(

My girlfriend(at the time) and now my wife of 40 years liked dimes. She just enjoyed the feel of a handful of them. So back in the 70’s when we were dating I use to buy a roll of dimes every shift I worked in a retail store while I was in college. I saved them for her and still have them. I have about 200 rolls of dimes from that time period. Every once in a while I open one of those rolls and am amazed at what I find. From high grade to clashed dies to run of the mill coins, but still fun every time I open a roll.
Yes dimes are fun to search.

Some coins are just plain "Interesting"
