I wonder if it's the difference in how you are selling. For instance, if you sell as a "Buy-it-Now" and check the option to Require immediate payment with Buy It Now, then that would eliminate the buyers who later claim they can't pay etc...

That won't eliminate the buyers who want to cancel the transaction after they pay, though. If it was up to me, I'd prefer to have them cancel before paying, if they're going to cancel.

The problem is I got about 20K sitting on my desk ready to list.

I did put the new inventory on my website. :)

Just got sent an email from ebay saying they can't verify my bank account I have had 30 plus years.

    Happened to me too.
There are two ways to fix it:
    1) Get an online bank account such as Chime or something else on their list of banks
    2) Sit on the phone with somebody from their IT department and tell them what they need to do. Their software was pointing to the banks public website instead of the customer website and they didn't know how to handle the two step verification.

I was able to fix it by uploading a bank statement with the transaction amounts and balances redacted.

This is also how I was able to fix it, too.

You guys must be using some banks with lack security. Most banks don't put a full account number on their statements they just show the account type and last 4 digits of the account number.

Nope. Wrongo assumption. Full security in place, only last 4 digits showing. For some reason, the Ebay software could not find my bank (it's a Credit Union). It's the same account I have used for over 20 years with Paypal, but it didn't appear in the Ebay dropdown and they couldn't find it using the Routing Number, so I had to upload a redacted statement. That worked.

    BTW, it's "lax"...

Nah - uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Office. Not only are you off the call, but they're off shift by the time you finish and find it doesn't fix the problem with Skype locking up.

There are probably 100 other sellers at any point in time with the same problem, so why can't their system managers work to prioritize problems based on groups of people with the same problems with known solutions? Fortunately I spoke to a customer service rep. earlier with a strong Irish accent who was smart and addressed all my questions well.

    Question on billing ....... MP

Does eBay take out all the fees upfront on the sale instead of having a monthly balance growing that needs to be paid monthly?

Actually both for now. The FVF are taken before the money goes into your Managed Payment Account. Monthly store fees are invoiced and are taken out of your PayPal account or however you have been paying them in the past.

According to the Spring Updates starting April 1 you will be able to pay for shipping and monthly store fees from your Managed Payment Account. Time will tell when and if this actually happens.

Yeap! @jmlanzaf No CC cashback now! Another thing chiseling at the measly savings you are getting! You can also add your shipping that is not getting cashback if you use ebay shipping.

    Do the math, dude.

You NEVER got cashback if you used eBay shipping because they insisted on using PayPal balance.

You NEVER got cashback on your PayPal fees because PayPal just took those directly.

So, you "lost" cashback on the 6.15% eBay fee [coins with a store, no top-rated plus].

So, if you had a FIVE FRIGGIN PERCENT cashback card, you were getting 0.308% per year in cashback. The FRIGGIN EBAY FEES are 0.8% per year cheaper.

You are still 0.5% cheaper under managed payments.

Christ. The math isn't that hard.

If you have a 3% cashback card, you are now getting 0.18% per year less in cashback but saving 0.8% in fees, so you are 0.62% to the good.

The only way you lost one friggin' red cent on the shift is if you had a FIFTEEN PERCENT cashback credit card.

DO YOU HAVE A 15% CASHBACK CREDIT CARD? If you do, please let me know where you got it. I want one.

All that I know is I've been selling a lot more coins in the past two months than I have in a while. Call it wasted stimulus money or the ease of using credit cards directly, I'm ok with managed payments.

0.308% of my eBay fees last year was a little over nine bucks. But with my card, the cashback rate works out to more like 1.5%, so that would save me about three dollars and change.

Of course, everybody's situation is different but I'm thinking if I start worrying about possibly losing a benefit like that, I might need to rethink what I'm doing on eBay.

Actually, it would be 0.308% of your eBay sales not eBay fees the way I calculated it.

Edited to add: But this is another case about someone worrying about the 0.2% they are "losing" and ignoring the 0.8% that they are "winning". It's maddening.

Oops. Okay, so change my numbers above to $90 and $30, more or less. Potentially not getting $30 in cashback benefits is still hardly a game-changer.

Especially when you ARE GETTING $120 in LOWER FEES.

It's just amazing to me that people have complained forever that eBay fees are going up up up! Then, when they go down SIGNIFICANTLY (9.15% vs 8.45% if you have a store, no top-rated seller), they still claim that it is somehow an increase.

And if you have top-rated plus discounts, it now applies to the (former) PayPal fee also, so that also got richer.

If I'm not mistaken, You are figuring the savings including the top rated seller discount which I opted out of. You most certainly can use a CC for ebay shipping, as I've done it quite a bit. The aggravating part of it is having 50-100 itty bitty charges on the CC statement each month. o:)
