What ever happened to the Congratulations Set? Has anyone received one?
Ha! Now it’s official!
I am not much a a flipper but love watching it happen as the flippers tend to add a lot content to the Mint threads.
Teach me please!

Can't we post the flipping news in the relevant purchase threads so we can consolidate all the related news in one place?

Well, when I tried that it annoyed @WQuarterFreddie who told me to start a new thread.
You KNOW how obedient I am.
Don’t flip out, man!
Tuskegee Quarter Rolls and Bag are now SOLD OUT after only 1 month......

Well, the Mint is having problems.
Of course they have problems.
their favoritism to dealers.
BTW, I am a sell out.
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I flip whatever I fancy. But I don’t flip flop.
LOL. Yeah, right. If they favored them anymore they would refuse to sell to them completely.
Modern coin flipper motto:
Heads I win, tails you lose?
My US Mint Commemorative Medal Set
If that's so, the obvious solution to all the problems people are having with the mint is for everybody to become a flipper.
Heads or tails?
Boy, this thread was a bad idea. lol
I don't know- it has the potential to be entertaining.
Well, Thursday is either a good day or bad day for flipping...
And after half the people get shut out on the proof AGEs, they can come here and complain about the flippers.
If not flippers, it'll be something else. It's always something.
is the thread really for complaining about coin flipping? If so, then the title needs adjusting.
this time it is letting dealers in first.
LOL. It wasn't supposed to be. But the forum minions do what they are going to do.
green doesn't suit you.
Somebody has to be first. Everybody can't order at exactly the same time.
Well, the Mint seems to think they can. They haven't figured out that 300,000 people trying to get into 10,000 slots causes a jam. LOL.
It is funny that people used to want "long time Mint customers" to have preference for issues. Apparently "long-time Mint customers who spend millions" aren't what they had in mind.
I think what they mean is "long time Mint customers who happen to include me".
I started buying from the mint in 1964. That's kind of a long time ago. Where does that put me in line?
All 'Official' threads must be treated with respect.
I for one need to learn more on the 'flipping' culture.
Thank you for bringing this flipping culture to the coin forum.
I'm really not sure what counts as "flipping" as opposed to "dealing". I mean, everything I buy to resell gets flipped. So isn't "flipping" just another word for "dealing"?
There really isn't a difference, it's just that calling people "dealers" didn't seem to be insulting enough.
That's kind of the way it feels.
Of course, when "true collectors" decide to sell duplicates or refocus their collection, they don't call themselves either one.
Think it has to do with volume and intent. If you are a collector who sells dupes or lower grades to get the same coin in higher grade vice buying for the express purpose of selling with no interest in the series other than profit margin. Different camps. Then there is really a third camp related to the second camp which is the coin dealer whose business is the buying and selling of coins. Until this early access thing came up I think the vitriol was directed at group two. IMHO

I recognize there is a slight difference. But some folks around here seem to do a fair amount of churn. And it is a difference in time scale or a difference in volume, but if you are doing the same thing...glass houses and stones.
And what of the people that buy 2 new issues and flip one to defer the cost of the second?
It's more of a continuum than a binary (or ternary) distinction.
Are you out of your flipping mind?!
Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc
I guess I think of flipping as being someone who is not particularly interested in the product and it just doing so to make money. It’s not about the product. It’s about the quick profit.
Hey JM- I would not argue there is gray space and that in the example you cited about buying two and flipping one to defer the cost of the one they kept that would be more in the first camp then the second camp as the intent was to keep the expensive first coin by mitigating the cost with the selling of the second. I would also be remiss if we did not inject the element of time. This would also be subjective to some extent, if you buy for your collection and sell ten years later are you a flipper?

Suppose the "quick profit" is used to buy coins the flipper wants for his collection...
That’s buying something that isn’t wanted in an attempt to make a quick profit. Ends to a means. No different than a beanie baby or Nikes. It’s still buying something not wanted before the person that actually wants it can buy it.
And the person that actually wants it (Bob) wants the person who bought it (Tom) to not be able to buy it and sell it to someone else who actually wants it (Jim) so that Bob can get it. Ends to a means.
Flippers create the market. Supply and demand. They take the risk, they get the reward. I’d venture to guess the flippers here have just as much chance as any other “normal” people. Some take bigger risks and offer premiums for friends/family to buy them. Some wake up every day for weeks.
You put in the work, you should get the benefit of it.
But that is also "dealing" isn't it?
I mean, I think both are noble professions if conducted with integrity. But people do seem to make a distinction.
I do not agree the end customer creates the demand..without the demand there is no need for supply. So flippers do not create the market, they supply the market

it is funny how broad of a brush you use to paint an entire forum.
I think of a dealer as specializing or being a professional in the object they are selling. A dealer, to a degree, is adding some value. A flipper is strictly looking for an opportunity where demand exceeds supply. The dealer has more expertise than a guy who read on a message board and sees he could make a few bucks trying to buy some shoes, coin, tickle me Elmo...
What you described is who I hate. The seagulls..fly in..steal...take a dump..fly away. Also agree on the add value of a dealer.

For the guy who can't be online when ordering starts, a flipper adds value.
