Ebay Item #114717722181
It makes no sense, especially when the card is apparently already graded. The more the seller writes, the deeper the hole becomes.

That is bizarre. Nothing fishy going on I am certain

Scam
Bizarro world
I guess the seller feels that the bowman was substantially under-graded? I personally would not touch this with a 10' pole or at best I would assume the card is raw and value it appropriately. Maybe assume a 1.5 grade on it. In any case, I wouldn't spend 37k on this sort of shady situation. $6k for the 1953 + $12k for the 1951 if it is a PSA 1. The seller should crack it and resubmit it if they feel it was graded wrong.
Well, there's one thing in that item description I've never seen in a listing before: he's offering to pay to fly the buyer to and from his store where they meet in a secure room.
Probably came back Authentic Altered and he’s trying to show the provenance as if to say I didn't Alter it. I can’t imagine that he’s hiding a PSA 2or1 when it’s sitting next to a PSA 3.

"meet at one of our stores in a secure private room."
I think I’d rather send my cards to this Vault rather than that other one in Oregon.

It's probably slabbed as authentic, but it could also be stolen and he's simply trying to hide the cert number. Also, how does this all work? He wants cash payment in person, but he won't remove the card until he has payment. If the buyer never sees the grade/cert, this screams "bait and switch". "Don't mind me while I turn my back on you, pretend to 'professionally' take the card out of the slab but instead pull this fake out of my pocket, hand it to you and throw you back on your plane". I hope no one falls for this garbage.

Ask him to throw in the Samurai Sword!!
I was just gonna say... he wants to meet in-person, and is ALSO selling a Samurai Sword!! PAHHHHHHHAHAHAHA!!!
Plus the cards are already in newer PSA holders so they were slabbed recently or re-holdered recently.
I assumed he may have sent them in for grading together and searched for the cert numbers close to the 53 Topps. I found that the cert number 55605293 (one less than the 53 Topps) is a 51 Bowman Mantle graded a VG 3.
I can't imagine how this can be legit. Why not just crack it and sell it as raw?

"the current grade will never be reviled at any point"
Freudian slip?
Right! If the current grade would never be reviled, then it should just be revealed!!!
So basically he is trying to fleece another $17K or so out of $20k or so graded value for both cards!
I just don't understand how he thinks this was a good idea.

Going back more than a year, he's only sold one other card. Looks like he sells a hodgepodge of other junk - DVDs, rifle scopes, pocket watches, random coins...
Just a guy who’s pissed about a grade letting emotion drive his decision making.
wow, were those two cards in that raw condition selling for that much in Jan/Feb 1996?
$8200 for a raw Mantle in '96. Then he gets a 3. Sour grapes anyone?
What’s odd is if it is a 3 (good detective work! ), that looks like a perfectly reasonable grade for that card. What the heck was he expecting?
craziest listing l have ever seen !
that is one crazy, coke fueled listing
I bought his 53 topps mantle. He broke them up. Looks like the 51 was graded a 3.
