Yea it’s the new normal. Elite franchise QB’s want to dictate how long they play for a team after signing huge mega deals. I think Watson and company should be told to shut up and play, if you want to sit out then sit out, don’t get paid and lose an eligible qualifying year of play. No big deal, it’s monkey see monkey do and not folding to these overpaid whining brats is the answer in my opinion.

this cancer of players thinking they run the show has finally migrated over from the NBA. I wholeheartedly agree. If I were an owner, I would expect a player to honor their contract. I would not acquiesce to trade demands. and I would feel no obligation to have a player sit in on coaching or gm hiring decisions. The inmates are running the asylum.

If he is so disgruntled he wants to sit out, let him sit. he should not get paid and any remaining years on his contract should just be moved forward.

no one forced them to sign long term deals.

There was a story that said there were 4 teams he would be willing to get traded to
with the Bears being one of them.
Or was that just a dream Galaxy shared with us in his sports related dream thread? :D

This is a great example of something to discuss in the off-season no way no how would the Seahawks trade Wilson there is no way to get fair offer in return for Wilson . Wilson and his agent already said they want to finish career in Seattle , just a bunch of gossip especially Brandon Marshall trying to stir up trade rumors , I would be shocked as a hawks fan if Russell big time Wilson was traded !

i like to make fun of pete carroll (its called HALO) but wilson is dumb if he thinks he will wind up somewhere with a better coach . Bill B , Carroll , Andy Reid are the best coaches currently so you want to go play for a worse coach than you have now?

He wants weapons ? He is taking up the most cap space on his team and has been for a few years now where would the money to pay guys come from ? He made no effort to sign a team friendly deal and all teams have the same cap so who would have money after taking on his present contract?

I think uncle Pete Carroll needs to sit Russell Wilson down and have a chat about how things are supposed to be done. If I'm making as much money as Russell Wilson and I'm paid that much money to do my job, then I'm going to get out there and do my job and not complain. Yes, uncle Pete needs to straighten Mr. Wilson out about a few things. Stay tuned, because this story is roasting quite nicely, and it's going to be good and juicy when it's finished cooking!

If owners were forced to honor contracts - i.e. by not being able to cut guys with no pay before the end of a contract - I would completely agree with you.

The inmates should not control the asylum. However it is a cancer to have a star player who does not want to be where he is.

I don't know about the rest of the posters here but I feel kind of insulted being called an inmate
like I'm some sort of criminal or something! Besides Todd keeps a close eye on us so its not
like we're running amok or anything like that.

owners do have to honor contracts. in the NFL only a portion is guaranteed, unlike in MLB or NBA. the owner is required to pay guaranteed money, then the contract states owner can cut any player. players can also be cut in other sports, but owner would have to pay full contract amount and no one wants to do that.

If NFL players didn't like the way their contracts are structured, they don't have to sign them, or, they could strike until their union heads forced fully guaranteed contracts.
