Any help for a newbie?

Hi All, I used to collect cards about 20 years ago. I packaged them up and put them away. I was cleaning up some stuff this weekend and stumbled across my old bin. I opened it up, and the first stack I grabbed had a Kobe, Shaq and Jordan golden touch cards. For fun, I looked them up on ebay and almost had a heart attack. Which leads to my questions:

  1. To Grade Or Not Grade? I have read mixed reviews

  2. Where is the best place to sell? I assume Ebay but I am not positive. Call me a cynic, but how do you protect yourself?

  3. Why in the heck do I see such fluctuations in pricing on Ebay? For Example 1996-97 Topps Finest Kobe Bryant Apprentices RC with Coating I have seen this ungraded fluctuate from $150-$750 in less than 30 days. Obviously condition has something to do with it. However, does the market really fluctuate that much so quickly? It is like gamestop

  4. I see that is a member PSA has quarterly specials. Do those ever just run around bulk gradings? Or are they specific to a sport, era, etc.?

Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer.

If you have cards worth good money in a PSA9 and crazy money in PSA10, You generally will get a significant amount more if graded.

    Ebay is the best.

Don't exactly know what you mean here. Condition has everything to do with value. People are often stupid when they see a card they "need".

No way to answer right now, the company is going through a lot of changes.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer.

Woweee..... Hard to tell condition from the pics since they aren't close enough, but even if they are mid grade they are worth over $500 each. At the least you need to sub them at $100 a pop and if they are nice, then $150 which is good for $2500 in value. If they 9 or 10 the Jordan or Kobe, then you'd probably get upcharged to $300-$600.

Would love to see close ups of each card individually front/back so we can see how high of grade they should get.
