    Actually, they did. Perhaps as long as 350 years or more (1000-1350) of occasional voyages followed by actual settlement and intermarriage with the native Americans in order to escape the ravages of inbreeding brought on by the failure of the Viking colonies in Greenland as the Little Ice Age took hold.
