Gold PCI when did this coin tone?

Do you think it was toned before being slabbed or toned after it was slabbed?

Probably a little after it was certified but mostly before. The gold holders are less good than the previous green holders. I remember the late Brian Beardsley of Chattanooga at the Baltimore show who ran the operation as far as I know. I had a PCI gold pq go from 64 to 62 at NGC.

I agree and the toning is much nicer in the green labels....IMO

I agree on the green label toning also. Here's a couple Peace $'s I have in the green label.

However, I learned the hard way......never crack and submit. Send it in as is and saw “grade raw”
Otherwise you end up with a super nice Morgan that won’t grade....says AT

This one is in a gold holder, not as good as color as the green holder but still pretty dang nice!

This was in the gold Holder that I cracked out and submitted raw....... Never cracked out of a PCI again.
They said AT.

It has a sort of what I call a "smoky look" to it. I have seen quite a few Peace dollars with that look in PCGS holders straight graded.

I agree and very good description. If I would have let them crack it out it would have straight graded,
Absolutely no question as I have done plenty......Morgans, Franklins. ASE proof and ounce's. Have not had a Peace dollar as of yet to try
