I don't think they'd like my choice of names, but it's something frequently attributed to Betty White in a saying about "taking a pounding". Bonus, there are plenty in the city with appropriate costumes already.

Being that football has entered the computer age, how about they name themselves the Washington PC's.

Let's just have a look at some of the ideas being thrown out there. The Washington Redwolves.

I thought they were doing that this past season and revealing it this year? looks like they just wasted a year.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

That's what I thought. I was expecting a new name for 2021. Nope, one more year.

this better be a really good name they come up with.

I have been losing sleep since the season started thinking about this.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I sure hope they don't put a wolves name on there.

Every time i'd see the name, i'd think of a poor, helpless, little bunny rabbit, fleeing for its life being chased by the wolf. 😭

Instead of spending money on stuff like those useless emblems they put on the side of the seats...they probably should have bought better players.

They might just surprise us, twist up what they have now a bit, and go with Washington Football Club....but they won't. I heard a lot of talk about Redtails, which kills two birds with one stone by allowing them to keep the R . I've seen Warthogs. THE HOGS but I doubt that one.

The Washington Regiment is another name being thrown out there.

btw the day one of the best names in sports history (washington bullets) changed to the wizards is the day i should've stopped watching basketball forever

If I had my way, you all know what I would name them. The Rats. The Washington Rats. When are we finally going to get a pro team named after these adorable little creatures!

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

Another name being thrown out there is the RedTails.

I could place my wholehearted support behind the nickname

    Washington Brady's

not that Tommy has any affiliation at all with Washington, but I believe part of every NFL team's nickname should incorporate one, Thomas Edward Patrick Brady.

I will be putting in a phone call to Dan Snyder soon.

hopefully now I can get some sleep...

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

BTW - that's a fox, and that name isn't welcome either, especially after a horrifying pic like that.

Eating Bugs Bunny is not acceptable.

A plane can be used as an instrument of war. Can't have that.

Regiment? Too warlike. Can't have that.

    Any carnivore? Can't have that.

They can call themselves the Washington Mr. Potato Heads. Hasbro has just announced that they will no longer use Mr. Potato Head to sell one of their most famous toys. It will now be called Potato Head. So the Mr. Potato head is free if they want it.

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

Another personal suggestion of mine is The Washington Red Squirrels. They're nuts about winning!

Rats spelled backwards is star, so that's a big plus.

Read up on what the Native Americans did not only to the settlers but to each other. It’s as bad as any darkest medieval thing you could think of.

George Washington didn't call them savages for nothing. Interesting that when Daniel Boone and company were defending Boonesboro, and an army came against him, just as the fire arrows were burning the fort, a huge rainstorm came over right during the battle and put out the fire to save the colony, and the tribes were later defeated after reinforcements came to Boonesboro. Being that the reinforcements did not arrive in time of the battle, a little divine intervention helped the colony survive the onslaught. You hit the nail on the head perkdog.

In a way, if you think about it, there can be an argument that no native American Indian should be portrayed on any athletic uniform because of the acts of so many cruel tribes. Then again, there were lots of peaceful ones as well.
